Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
VYLLYS AVERY., OF SALISBURY, NEV YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN WINDOW-BLIND FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 33,563, dated October 29, 1861.
To all whom #may concern:
Be it known that- I, WYLLYS AVERY, of Salisbury, in the county of Herkimer and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vindow-Blind Fastenings; and I d0 hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification, A represents a portion of the sash, and B a portion of the window-blind to be fastened. To the blind, and also to the sash, are 'secured two met-allie pieces O C', which are made exactly alike, or otherwise, if desirable, lanid of the form or substantially the form represented in the ignre. The positions of thefpieces are reversed when they are secured in position for use, as is represented.
In usingfthis fastener the window-sash is irst raised and the shutters are then closed. The sash is then drawn down, when the piece C catches into and locks the piece C upon the shutter, as is shown in the figure. It is evident now that so long as the Window remains down the shutters cannot be opened without breakin` the locks, and that as soon as the sash is raised the shutters are free to be opened.
The form of fastener ma be varied and a VVYLLYS AVERY.
Witnesses:
BENJAMIN MARVIN, p CHARLES M. NOETHORP.
