UNITED STATES PATENT OrrrcaO JOHN DUNHAM HIBBS AND GEORGE WASHINGTON HIBBS, OF FAIRFIELD,
 i l NEBRASKA.
STOCKING-EXHIBITOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 332,524, datedgDecember 15l 1885.
Application iiled June 1l, 1885. Serial No. 168,401. (No model.)
To all vhom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOHN D. HIBBS and GEORGE W. HIBBs, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Faireld, in the county of Clay and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stocking- Exhibitors; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, andexact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvementsin devices for exhibiting hose or stockings; and it consists in providing a standard with rotary trays or supports, said supports being provided with springclasps which are adapted to hold the article to be exhibited in place, and also sustain a rail.
to which the price-tag may be attached; and our invention further consists in the construction and combination of the parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and specifically pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate our invention, Figure l is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is a vertical section, and Fig. 3 is a perspective View of our improved clasp.
A represents asuitably-constructed support or base, the upwardly-projecting portion of which is provided with a socket for the reception of a shaft, B. The lower portion of the base is provided with a projecting ange, which is provided with vertical perforations, by means of which it may be securely attached to the floor. The shaft B is adapted to fitsnugly within the socket of the base-support.
C represents a dependent socket, which is rigidly attached to the upper tray, D, and said socket is provided on its-interior with a cap, c, which will fit over the upper end of the shaft, and .allow said socket to turn freely upon said shaft. The shelf or tray D is made of a disk of any suitable material, wood being preferred, and to the upper edges of this disk, adjacent to its circumference, are inserted the ends e e of the clasps, said clasps ends of this rail are bent outwardly, so as to 6o bear against one of the loops, as fully shown at was in Fig. 3 of the drawings. Wires or brace-rods F are looped into staples attached to the upper surface of the lower disk, D', and
are passed through perforations in the upper 6 5 disk and secured thereto. These wires F form supports, from which the lower disk is suspended.
The rail E forms a convenient means for attaching price-cards thereto, said price-cards being suspended from the rail so as to hang between the members e e of the clasps, and the articles to be exhibited can be securely attached to the exhibitor by inserting them under the portion f of theclasp.
It will be readily seen by means of the de` vice hereinbefore described that stockings and other notions can be easily attached and detached from the frame, and that the supporting-disk can be rotated so as to bring the article in convenient position for inspection; also, thatY the pricecards are held immediately above said articles without danger of being displaced. The upper portion of the disks will also form convenient shelves for the reception of goods similar in character to the sample displayed. If desirable, two or more shelves may be suspended from the upper support.
 1. In a device for exhibiting notions, a vertical support or shaft, in combination with a disk having a dependent socket, C, rigidly attached thereto, spring -clamps located adjacent to the periphery of said disk, and a rail supported by said spring-clamps, substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.
 2. In a device for exhibiting notions, a vertical support, in combination with an upper lCO disk or shelf provided with a depending sockard B, and cap C, of ,the disk D, havingsooket C and Wire E,.the disk D',7 having Wire E and sustaining-rods F, and the spring-clasps e'ef,
as described. 1 5
