Description

(No Model.)
E. F. DRAKE.
MILK BUCKET AND STOOL. No. 3.32.142. Patented Dec. 8, 1885.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD F. DRAKE, OF MILLERS FALLS, MASSACHUSETTS.
MILK BUOKET AND STOOL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 332,142, dated December 8, 1885.
Application filed July 10, 1885.
To aZZ whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, EDWARD F. DRAKE, of Millers Falls, county of Franklin, and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improve ment in Combined Milk Bucket and Stool, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawing, is a specification, like letters on the drawing representing like parts.
This invention is an improvement upon the invention set forth in United States Patent No. 271,291, and has for its object to provide a combined milk bucket and stool which may be readily adjusted as to height, the seat and bucket being free to rotate when in use as the user of the stool changes position when milking.
In this invention the bucket or pail and its attached parts are the same as in the said patent, with the exception that the hooks by means of which the pail is attached to the feet are omitted, the bucket or pail herein shown being supplied with a bottom flange or ring adapted to embrace a disk or head having a screw threaded spindle which is passed through the top of a low stool.
The drawing shows in elevation a combined milk-bucket and stool constructed in accordance with this invention.
The bucket or pail A, combined seat and cover B, bail C, handle D, spout H, and funnel J, with its attached pipe I, are all as in the said patent, so need not be herein described. The pail A at its lower end is provided with a bottom flange or ring, A, of sufficient depth to embrace a bottom plate, a,to support the pail. The bottom flange or ring, A, is slotted, as shown at b, to receive a suitable pin, b, suspended from the main body of the pail A by a chain, b the pin entering holes 2, a series of which Serial No. 171,164. (No model.)
are bored in the edge of the disk or head, thus securing the pail firmly thereto, said slot being of sufficient length to present at least one of the series of holes, and preferably two, to the view of the operator. The disk or head a is provided with a screw-threaded spindle, c, which is passed through a threaded hole in the top of a stool, consisting in this instance of a top piece or seat, 0, and supporting-legs a".
By the employment of a disk or head, a, and screw-threaded spindle it will be noticed that the pail or bucket A and its seat B may be raised or lowered, as desired, with relation to the stool, to accommodate the user of the apparatus, the seat and bucket being at all times free to be rotated when in use, which is especially advantageous when a cow steps backward or forward or the user of the apparatus changes position.
-I am aware that a milk-bucket has been adjustably attached to supporting-legs; but such construction I do not broadly claim.
I claim- A milk-bucket having an extended bottom flange or ring, a combined cover and seat, and pin 1), combined with the stool c c" and an interposed disk or head, a, engaged by the bottom flange of the bucket, and having holes 2, and with the screw-threaded spindle c rigidly connected with the disk or head and turning in the stool, all substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
EDWVARD F. DRAKE.
