SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 327,377, dated September 29, 1885- Application filed April 30, 185. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY BROOKS, of
Brooklyn, in the county. of Ouyahoga and- State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Horse-Oollar, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to improvements in horse-collars; and it consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement ofparts, as here inafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 represents a back or inside face view of a horse-collar embodying my invention, and Fig. 2 a section of the same on the line a; w in Fig. 1.
A indicates the outer covering of the collar, which may be made of leather, as usual; and B, its main lining or portion exposed to contact with the animal, and made of felt, and containing within a canvas or other wrapper, b, the usual or any suitable filling, O, that will be prevented by the soft and peculiar nature of the felt lining B from gathering into wads or lumps, or from making hollows, thus avoiding galls and sores on the neck and breast of the horse, as often produced by its collar, said felt lining also conducing to the durability and uniformity of wear of the collar.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent In a horse-collar, the combination of the outer covering, A, the felt lining B, the filling O, and its wrapper b, essentially as shown and described.
