WINDING ATTACHMENT FOR WATCHES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 325,604, dated September 1, 1885.
Application filed November 13, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES S. GUEENsEY,
of WVaterbury, in the county of New Haven, and in the State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in finding Attachments for \Vatches; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is an enlarged perspective view of my yoke" and its connecting parts separated from each other, and Fig. 2 is a like view of the same combined with each other and with the spring-barrel.
Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each of the figures.
My invention relates to stem-win ding mechanism for watches; and it consists, principally, in awinding-yoke having a click-spring that is a part of the same, and adapted to hold in place and pivot two winding-wheels and a click or pawl, substantially as and for the purpose hereinafter specified.
It consists, further, in a winding-yoke which is secured upon a movementplate by a single screw, and operates to hold in place and pivot two winding wheels and a click or pawl, substantially as and for the purpose hereinafter shown.
It consists, finally, in the combination of the winding-yoke with its spring,the windingwheels, and the click with the movementplate and spring-barrel, substantially as and for the purpose hereinafter set forth.
In the annexed drawings, A represents a watch-plate, upon which is secured a yoke, 13, by means of a screw, C, that passes through the center of the latter, through a windingwheel, D, and into or through said plate.
As seen in the drawings, the yoke B is formed from a flat piece of metal, has an elbow shape longitudinally and at its center, and each end is provided with a round opening, I), while from one side, near one end, a spring, Z), formed from the same piece, extends in a slight curve and in the same plane to and beyond the opposite end.
The screw C has a shoulder, c, at its lower end,which impinges upon the face of the plate A, and insures sufficient space between the latter and the inner face of the yoke B to permit the wheel D to turn freely upon said screw, while between each end of said yoke and said plate is placed a stud, E, which has its ends reduced to enable them to fit into the opening b at such end and a corresponding opening provided in said plate.
Upon the stud E, adjacent to the free end of the spring 12, is pivoted a pawl or click, E, which is adapted to engage with the teeth 9 of an adjacentlyjournaled spring-barrel, G, and is held in such engagement with a yielding pressure by means of said spring, that bears upon a pin, f, which projects from the outer face of said click between its pivotal bearing and outer end. A winding-wheel, H, pivoted upon the second stud E, meshes at one side with the centrally-pivoted wheel D, and at its opposite side with the usual steinactuated wheel, and enables the motion of said stem to be communicated to said springbarrel.
It will be seen that by my construction one screw operates to confine .in place the yoke, clickspring, click, and winding-Wheels,which parts are easily and quickly placed in or removed from position, and are not liable to derangement while in use.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. A winding-yoke having a click-spring that is a part of the same, and adapted to hold in place and pivot two winding-wheels and a click or pawl, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
2. A winding-yoke which is secured upon a movement-plate by a single screw and operates to hold in place and pivot two windingwheels and a click or pawl, substantially as and for the purpose shown.
3. The yoke B, provided with the openings b and spring b, the screw C, the stud E, the click F, having the pin f, and the windingwheels I) and H, in combination with each other and with the plate A, provided with the openings a, and the spring-barrel G, j ournaled upon said plate, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
