(Cl. 211-15) The present invention relates to an arrangement for displaying goods in show-windows and shops by means of at least one roundabout to which said goods are secured while driving means control the rotation of the roundabout. According to my invention, said means include at least one member for the suspension of the arrangement from a ceiling.
The accompanying drawing illustrates by way of eX- ample a preferred embodiment of my invention. In said drawing:

FIG, 1 shows a casing 1 provided at its upper end with a suspension hook 2 to which is further secured through a strap 3 a circular carrier plate 4. Said plate carries .a motor 5 fed with a comparatively low voltage, say 20 volts, a transformer 6 feeding said motor and a vertical shaft 7 revolvably carried in the central section of the plate within a bearing 8 acting also as an axial thrust member. Said shaft 7 is adapted to be driven into rotation by the motor 5 through the agency of a set of speedreducing gears 9 carried underneath the plate 4, a chain 10 and a wheel 11 fitted loose on the shaft 7.
The operative connection between said loose wheel 11 and the shaft 7 is provided by a friction coupling constituted by a spring 12 urging a ring 7a secured to the upper end of the shaft 7 against a friction disc 13 the lower surface of which rests on the wheel 11.
All the above disclosed parts are carried inside the casing 1 the lower opening of which is closed by a cover :1a through the central .section of which the shaft 7 extend-s while the lower end of said shaft is incurved into hook shape, as shown at 7b.
Said hook 7b allows suspending thereto a roundabout for the display of covers .14 carrying phonographic records. Said roundabout includes a central shaft 15 the upper eye-shaped end 15a of which engages the hook 7b, while the lower end of said shaft 15 carries two supports 16 and 17 for the record-enclosing covers 14. Each of said supports is constituted by a plate, of plastic material for instance, provided with radial slots such as 18, engaged by the covers 14 which are clamped therein pairwise through the agency of blade springs 19 (FIG. 4).
With such an arrangement, it is possible to insert or to remove the record-carrying covers, for instance by holding transiently the roundabout in ones hand against movement, even while the motor is running, which is by ice no means detrimental to the motor, since the shaft 7 is connected with the gear 9 through the agency of the above-described friction clutch 711- 12-113.
At its lower end, the shaft 15 carries a tooth 15b and is provided with a notch 150, which tooth and notch all-ow for instance coupling with the roundabout illustrated in solid lines a second roundabout similar to the first roundabout as illustrated in dot-and-da-sh lines in FIG. 1.
The shaft 20 carrying said second roundabout is provided at its upper end with a tooth 20a and a notch 20b the sizes of which correspond respectively with those of the notch 15c and of the tooth 15b on the shaft 15. This allows coupling the cooperating ends of the two shaft-s as illustrated, which shafts may be held in their coupled position by a sleeve 21 (FIG. 5) which is cut along its inner periphery to form an annular groove 21a and by an elastic ring 22 fitted in said groove .21a and a cooperating groove 23 formed in the upper shaft .15 so as to secure the sleeve in its operative position.
The arrangement illustrated and described hereinabove is adapted to be secured to the ceiling of a show window or of a shop. In order to prevent any rotary movement of the casing during the rotation of the roundabout, the arrangement is suspended from a bar, the lower hooked end of which engages the upper hook 2 of the arrangement.
My invention is obviously not limited to what is described or illustrated and furthermore the arrangement illustrated may serve as well for showing articles other than record-carrying covers or jackets.
According to a first modification, the roundabout shaft may be provided with supports for the goods to be displayed such as that illustrated in FIG. 6. Said support is constituted by a disc 24 beyond the edge of which the rods 25 project radially, said rods carrying tweezers 26 for the securing of small bags for instance.
According to another embodiment illustrated in FIG. 7, the rods projecting beyond the edge of the disc 24 may for instance be slightly incurved at their ends at 25a so as to allow the dire-ct suspension therefrom of small bags such as 27.
What I claim is:
1. A display apparatus to be suspended from a ceiling, of the type comprising at least one roundabout, means for securing goods to be displayed to said roundabout, a motor driving said roundabout through the medium of at least one shaft, a casing enclosing and mounting said motor, means suspending said casing from a ceiling, said display apparatus being characterized in that it comprises, interposed between said motor and said shaft, a friction clutch whereby said motor can run independently of said roundabout when the latter is held against rotation.
2. A display apparatus to be suspended from a ceiling, of the type comprising at least one roundabout, means for securing goods to be displayed to said roundabout, a motor driving said roundabout through the medium of at least one shaft, a casing enclosing and mounting said motor, means suspending said casing from a ceiling, said display apparatus being characterized in that it comprises, interposed between said motor and said shaft, a set of speed-reducing gears and a friction clutch, whereby said motor can run independently of said roundabout when the latter is held against rotation.
3. A display apparatus to be suspended from a ceiling, of the type comprising at least one roundabout, means for securing goods to be displayed to said roundabout, a motor driving said roundabout through the medium of at least one shaf-t, a casing enclosing and mounting said motor, means suspending said casing from a ceiling, said display apparatus being characterized in that it comprises, interposed between said motor and said shaft, a friction clutch whereby said motor can run independently of said roundabout when the latter is held against rotation, and means for preventing any angular shifting of said casing during the rotation of said motor and of said roundabout.

Claims (1)
1. A DISPLAY APPARATUS TO BE SUSPENDED FROM A CEILING, OF THE TYPE COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE ROUNDABOUT, MEANS FOR SECURING GOODS TO BE DISPLAYED TO SAID ROUNDABOUT, A MOTOR DRIVING SAID ROUNDABOUT THROUGH THE MEDIUM OF AT LEAST ONE SHAFT, A CASING ENCLOSING AND MOUNTING SAID MOTOR, MEANS SUSPENDING SAID CASING FROM A CEILING, SAID DISPLAY APPARATUS BEING CHARACTERIZED IN THAT IT COMPRISES, INTERPOSED BETWEEN SAID MOTOR AND SAID SHAFT, A FRICTION CLUTCH WHEREBY SAID MOTOR CAN RUN INDEPENDENTLY OF SAID ROUNDABOUT WHEN THE LATTER IS HELD AGAINST ROTATION.
