H. O. WEEDEN.
DRAPTING TABLE.
Patented May 26, 1885.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY O. XVEEDEN, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DRAFTlNG-TABLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 318,528, dated May 26,1885.
Application fil ed December 26, 1884.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY C. \VEEDEN, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drafting-Tables, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide improvements in the construction of tables especially adapted for the use of draftsmen, whereby those tables sh all be made ofincreased efficiency and utility.
In the accompanying drawings I have illus trated a table containing my improvement. Figure 1 represents a table in elevation and perspective. Fig. 2 is a view in vertical cross section, and Fig. 3 a view upon an enlarged scale in horizontal cross-section, illustrating the construction of a portion of the apparatus.
The body A of my improved table may be constructed in any well known manner, as shown in the drawings. The top or working surface of the table I form in two parts or leaves, B B, in hinged or flexible connection and detached or separable from the body. For each leaf B, I provide suitable standards, 0, by which it may be supported at any desired height above the body A, the standards being in hinged or flexible connection with the leaf, as shown. To secure the leaf at any desired height, I employ a peg, D, adapted to engage with notches formed in the standards, as shown. Any other suitable supporting device as, for
(N0 model.)
example, a pin passed through holes in the standardmay be substituted.
My impro ved table has the advantages of p ermitting its top, or the part on which the work is done, to be raised or lowered at pleasure to suit the convenience of the user, and also of enabling the angle of either leaf of the table to be changed independent of the other, so as to accommodate different users with different inclinations at the same time. Again, with my improved table, one leaf of the top may be kept level while the other is inclined.
I claim- 1. The improved drafting-table herein described, having a divided top separate or detached from the body or legs of the table, and formed of hinged or flexibly-connected leaves, each leaf being provided with vertically-adjustable supports flexibly connected thereto, all substantially as herein described.
2. In a draftingtable, the combination, with the body A, of the flexibly-connected leaves B B, vertically-adjustable supports 0, and re taining-pegs D, all substantially as herein set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 23d day of December, A. D. 188a.
HENRY O. YVEEDEN.
