  • the present invention relates to an implement for the care of babies and is primarily intended to serve as a table for supporting a baby for the many different treatments which a baby usually requires, such as drying the baby after a bath, powdering, sponging, oiling, or creaming it, changing its diapers, and the like.
  • the implement according to the invention is designed to take up the least space required when in use and to be easily taken apart for shipment or when not needed. It comprises a substantially rectangular table plate with a pair of legs on each side, and a pair of narrow boards on each of which the two legs of each pair are mounted, and a pair of stop or holding members on the lower side of each of these boards which are adjustable to different distances from each other and serve for securing the implement in a fixed position on the upper edges of a bathtub, crib, childs bed, or the like.
  • the implement according to the invention may be easily assembled and disassembled; it is of a light weight and an extremely simple construction and may therefore be easily manipulated.
  • the implement may also be used as a playing table, for example, by providing it with longer legs or by connecting additional legs to the supporting boards in place of the holding members.
  • the feet for supporting the table plate may be extended upwardly through the plate so as also to serve as supports for a framelike guard above and around the plate to prevent the baby from falling off.
  • the table plate and, if desirable, the guard frame as well may be adjustable to different heights. When designed in this manner, the implement may also be set upon a normal table to increase its height and, because of the guard frame, there will be no danger that the baby will fall off the table.
  • the stop or holding members may consist of short blocks or brackets which are adjustable on the narrow boards carrying the legs of the table plate by means of bolts which project from the upper ends of the blocks or brackets and extend through and are slidable along longitudinal slots in the narrow boards.
  • the bolts are provided with wing nuts.
  • a suitable container may be removably suspended for holding the utensils which might be needed for the different treatments for the care of a baby.
  • the rear rail of the guard frame may be removably connected to the lateral rails.
  • the individual parts of the implement may be connected to and separated from each other and to the table plate by simple plug connections so that the implement may be easily and quickly assembled and disassembled, which is especially important if the baby is taken along on trips or on vacations.

  • the implement according to the invention comprises a substantially rectangular plate 1 which is supported on each side by a pair of legs 2.
  • Each pair of legs 2 is mounted on a separate narrow board 3, and each of these boards 3 is provided with a pair of stop or holding blocks 4 which are connected to the respective board 3 by bolts 8 and wing nuts 9.
  • Bolts 8 extend through slots 7 in each board 3, and blocks 8 are thus adjustable on each board to diiferent distances from each other.
  • the boards 3 rest at their front and rear ends on the rim of the tub or the upper edge of the crib, and blocks 4 are then adjusted in slots 7 of boards 3 so as to abut against the inner wall of the bath tub or crib so that, when nuts 9 are tightened, the implement will be rigidly connected to the tub or crib.
  • Each leg 2 is provided with a rod-shaped upward extension 5 of a smaller cross-sectional size than that of the leg.
  • Plate 1 is provided with holes of a size in accordance with the cross-sectional size of the extensions 5, so that the latter can pass through plate 1, While the latter rests on the legs 2.
  • the extensions 5 serve as supports for lateral protecting rails 6, the rear ends of which are connected by a back rail 11.
  • a container 10 On the front edge of plate 1, a container 10 may be removably connected into which any desired articles of a smaller size for the care of the baby may be placed.
  • the entire implement may be easily taken apart and reassembled of its individual parts, and plate 1, boards 3, 6, and 11, and the diiferent legs may be connected to each other by being plugged into each other.
  • the holding blocks 4 are replaced by angular members 12 in order to permit the distances between their downwardly projecting webs to be increased or reduced beyond the distances between the ends of slots 7 so that the implement can be mounted on a larger or smaller support than is possible with the adjustment device according to FIGURE 2.
  • the legs 2 are extended and provided with transverse bores 13 which are spaced at suitable distances vertically from each other and are adapted to receive cotter pins or the like 14 for supporting the plate 1 and the rails 6. Bores 13 and pins 14 may thus be used for mounting plate 1 at any desired height.
  • An implement for baby care comprising a substantially rectangular plate, a pair of legs adapted to be secured to said plate on each lateral side thereof, a narrow board for supporting each pair of said legs, a pair of bolding members adjustable to different distances from each other on the lower side of each of said boards, and means for removably securing the individual parts of said implement to each other.
  • each of said boards carrying the legs have longitudinal slots, and a bolt mounted on and projecting from each or" said holding members through one of said slots and slidable to different positions in said slot, and a wing nut on the upper end of said bolt for clamping said holding member in any adjusted position to said board.
