Description

(No Model) W. LERCHEN'.
TRACE BUGKLE. V No. 312,567. Patented Feb. 17, 1885.
M .glttarney? UNITED STATES PATENT OFF CE.
WILLIAM LEROHEN, OF LAKE CITY, COLORADO.
TRACE-BUCKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 312,567, dated February 17, 1885.
Application filed December 29, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM LERCHEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lake City, in the county of Hinsdale and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trace-Buckles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention has relation to improvements in trace-buckles; and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of devices, as will be hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the appended claims.
The annexed drawings, to which reference is made, fully illustrate my invention, in which Figure 1 represents a vertical sectional View showing the buckle in a locked position, and
Fig. 2 is a plan view'of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional View of the portion a detached from the buckle, and Fig. 4. is a detail perspective view of one side of the portion b.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates the buckle, composed of three portions, a, b, and c. The portion a consists of the curved sidebars, d, having the back-band and belly-band loop e and end crossbars, f f, the latter, f, having the central tongue to engage a perforation in the trace, and the former, j, which is convexed in crosssection, slides upon the side bars of the portion I). Said side bars are provided with notches or recesses 9 near the front end, for a purpose presently explained. The portion b also consists of curved side bars, h, and crossbars i z". The former, 2', projects laterally and rides upon the outer side bars when the parts are manipulated in buckling and unbuckling the same. The side bars of the portion 1) are recessed on their outer faces to receive the curved side bars of a link, 0, the bar 7c of which connects with the trace, as shown, and the bar l bears upon the same.
It will be seen from the above description ing in the buckle, thus enabling the end of the trace to be easily passed through the same.
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 18 1. In athree-part trace-buckle, the combination, with the frame a, having the end bars, ff, and the tongue, of the frame I), having the end bars, 2' i, and provided with the recesses 9, adapted to receive the side bars of the link, as shown and described.
2. In a three-part trace-buckle, the combination, with the frame I), having end bars, f f, and link, of the frame a, provided with the end bars, the tongue, and the depressions m m, adapted to receive the projecting ends of the end bar, 6, as shown and described.
3. In a three-part trace-buckle, herein described, consisting of the outer frame having curved side bars provided with the depressions m, the end bars, one of which having the tongue, the inner frame, 12, having curved side bars, k, and end bars, and side notches or recesses, g, and the curved link, the whole adapted to operate as described, and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof Iaflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
\VILLIAM LERGHEN.
