E. R. H. TEETER.
REVOLVING STAND. No. 312,528. Patented Feb. 17, 1885.

WITNESSES UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELIJ AH R. H. TEETER, OF WHITE HOUSE STATION, NEW JERSEY.
REVOLl/ING STAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 312,528, dated February 1'7. 1885.
Application filed May 7, 1884.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIJAII R. H. TEETER, of White House Station, in the county of Hunterdon and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Revolving Stands; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to revolving stands, the object being to provide an adjustable revolving stand adapted to support a carriagebody or other structure while the latter is being painted or finished.
The invention consists in the combination, with a standard, of a revolving sleeve or collar having adjustable suppoi ting-arms secured thereto.
The invention further consists in the features of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, Figure l is a view in perspective of my improved stand, and Figs. '2 and 3 illustrate the parts of the same in detail.
Arepresents a standard, which may be made of any suitable material. Ordinary gas-pipe may be used advantageously. To the lower end of this standard are secured three or more legs, B, of the form illustrated in the drawings, or of any equivalent construction, each leg being braced to the standard by a brace, b. The upper end of the standard A is reduced 0r annularly recessed to form a shoulder, a. r
0 represents a sleeve adapted to fit over the upper end of the standard and rest upon the shoulder a to revolve thereon.
D represents radial arms, secured adj ustably to the sleeve 0. Each of said arms D is formed with aslotted plate, 01, to receive a screw, E, which projects through the plate and through an opening, a, formed in the sleeve 0.
I prefer to employ the form of screw and securing device shown in the drawings, the same (No model.)
consisting of a headed screw, E. the head resting within the sleeve and the threaded end of the screw passing through the plate of the arm D and provided with awasher, c, and athumbpiece, 6. The slot of each plate dis elongated to admit of the independent adjustment of the arms D upon the sleeve; or, if preferred, the openings 0 of the sleeve may be elongated to facilitate the adjustment of the arms.
The construction thus described, as will be apparent, admits of the adjustment of one or more of the arms D to compensate for any unevenness of the carriage-body or other object supported upon the stand, and the revolving of the sleeve and arms allows the object supported and being operated upon to be readily turned to facilitate the labor.
As shown in Fig. 1, the legs B may be also made adjustable in the same manner and for the same purpose as the supporting-arms.
It will be observed that the arms D project upwardly well above the upper end of the standard.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A stand consisting of a standard formed with a shoulder, as described, a revolving sleeve, and independentlyadjustable radial arms secured to said sleeve and proj eoting upwardly above the upper end of the standard, substantially as set forth.
2. A stand consisting of a standard supported upon adjustable legs and formed with a shoulder, as described, a revolving sleeve, and a series of radial upwardly-proj eeting arms secured to said sleeve, each of said arms being independently adjustable, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
