L EONHARD K IKAS United States Patent 3,ll5,fi3i Patented Dec. 31 i953 Ofilice 3,115,638 BEAUTY BEACH KIT Leanhard Kikas, 83--15 369th St, Jamaica, NEI- Filed Dec. 19, 1961, Ser. No. 160,438 1 Claim. ((Il. 2-48) This invention relates to aprons and more particularly to aprons, that may be worn by girls and women while applying cosmetics while at beaches or the like.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a beauty kit that may be worn by an individual while applying makeup.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a beauty kit with an adjustable image reflection means.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a compact foldaway beach kit that may be easily cleaned.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a beach beauty kit bearing the above objects in mind that is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and efficient in use.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view comprising the main embodiment of the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing a modified form of mirror attachment;
FIG. 3 is a front view of the mirror shown in FIG. 1;
FIG. 4 is a front view of the modified form shown in FIG. 2 with a means for securing it in the beach sand;
FIG. 5 is an enlarged perspective view of the attachment removed from FIG. 4.
Referring now more in detail to the drawing, a beauty beach 'kit It} made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include a flexible panel 12 made of suitable material with a cord 14 fixedly secured to the vertical ends for securing the panel 12 to an individual. A flexible panel 16 is secured to the front surface of panel 12 at its lowermost end and is sewed to the panel et to form vertical sections which define pockets 1-8 for storing cosmetics and various attachments. A plurality of equally spaced apart panels 24 are fixedly secured to panel 16 defining pockets 22 which may receive cosmetics and/or attachments also. A cord 24- is fixedly secured to the uppermost end of panel 12 and is centrally located on the panel 12 for receiving the head and neck of the individual wearing the beauty beach kit It A rectangular plate 26 is secured to the front of panel 12 just below the cord 24 by a cord 23 which is interwoven and receives therewithin grommets 36. An angularly shaped block 32 having a pair of spaced apart circular openings 34 therethrough is fixedly secured centrally and near the uppermost end on the front of plate 26. A hollow, elongated sleeve 36 is positioned in one of the openings 34 which sleeve telescopically receives an elongated hollow sleeve 38 which receives at its upper end telescopically a shaft 39 which is threadedly received by a semicircular yoke 46 which receives a circular mirror 42 that is pivotable on a pair of pins 44 fixedly secured to the outer periphery of mirror 42.
A threaded shaft 46 is threadedly received by an adjustable clamp 48 and may secure the mirror 42 and its yoke 4i) to a table 50.
A spike 52 having a conical point 54 at its lower end and a threaded extension shaft 56 at its uppermost end may be threadedly received by opening 58 in the shaft 4 6 thus allowing the yoke it} and mirror 42 to be secured in the sand.
In operation, the user unfolds the panel 12 to her by tying the cords 14 behind her. After slipping the looped cord 24 over her head, she then grasps sleeve 36 and slides it into one of the openings 3-4 whichever may suit her and slides the sleeve 38 in the shaft 39 in or out of the sleeve 36 until it is adjusted to the correct position to enable her to see her image in the mirror 42, which is also adjusted by the pivot pins 44 within the yoke 4%. The cosmetics are readily available from either the pockets 13 or the pockets 22 of the panel 16. If desired, the mirror 42 may threadedly receive shaft 46 and the adjustable clamp 48 which may be raised or lowered to the desired height and the clamp 48 secures the mirror 42 to the table 59.
The mirror '42 threadedly receives shaft 46 and may, if desired, receive threadedly the spike 52 at its lowermost end within the opening 5 8, and the spike pushed into the sand, thus affording securement for the yoke 4t It will thus be recognized that the mirror 42 may be secured to various objects and also the plate 26 may be removed in its entirety from the panel 12 enabling the panel to be'washed by machine.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim.
