PAPER SHOE.
No. 311,018. Patented Jan. 20,1885.

UNITED STATES PATENT a TYLER O. LORD, OF J OLIET, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO FREDERICK GUILD, OF
CANTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
PAPER SHOE.
7 SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 311,018, dated January 20, 1885.
Application filed June 23, i884.
To all iuhom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, TYLER O. LORD, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Joliet, in the county of Will and State of -Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper Shoes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had'therein tothe accompanying drawing. 7 v
The figure is a perspective view.
This invention relates to certain improvements in paper shoes or slippers, which improvenients are fully set forth in the follow- 1ng specification and claims.
Referring to the drawing, a slipper made entirelyof paper is shown, in which D is the could not do without these crimps or corrugations, which constitute one of t my said improvemen s.
(X0 model) Another improvement consists in perforating the upper A with small holes 0, for ventilating purposes, which is a very necessary improvement, as without them an upper made of paper would sweat the foot, as paper is not 5 V porous like leather or cloth, and apaper shoe without such ventilating-holes would be of little use. "I do not limit myself to having these crimps or ventilating-holes all confined to the upper; but they may be applied whero ever it may be necessary or suit the fancy.
I am aware that shoes and slippers made with paper are not new; but I am not aware that a shoe or slipper made entirely of paper and having these crimps and ventilating-holes 5 has ever been known or used.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows, to wit:
1. Apapershoe orslipperhavingthe crimps 50 or corrugations B, for the purpose set forth.
2. A paper shoe or slipper having the crimps or corrugations B and ventilating-holes G, for the purpose set forth.
TYLER o. LORD.
