CHARLES E. LINDSEY AND DAVID N. GODDARD, OF MOUNT VERNON, ILL.
HAME-TUG.

At about the center of the hameof the lug :into said openin hen draft is applied, all possibility of their separation is prevented.
It will be seen from the above description that by the. use of the devices constructed by us an effective and reliable means for the connection of the hame-seetions is provided, and also that the means for the attachment of the trace-plate are simple, thoroughly eflicient, and easily attached to or detached from one another.
We are aware that previous to our invention hame-tngs have been provided with a hook at one end and a crossbar at the other end to receive the hook of the adjacent tug.
We are also aware that hame-tugs have been provided with various forms of openings to receive a correspondingly-shaped lug of the trace-plate. Our invention differs from these,
however, in the peculiar formation of the hame-tug opening and trace-plate lug to engage the same; hence we make no broad claim to the construction'shown and described; but,
Having fully described our invention, what l we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As an improvement in hame-tugs, the herein-describcd adjustable tug, comprising a se ries'of detachable sections, each of which is provided with an opening in the form of a Roman cross, as shown, in combination with the trace-plate G, having a downwardly-pro jecting lug, D, provided with a cross-piece, d, formed integral therewith and projecting at right angles thereto, said cross-piece being ,flush with the upper edge of the lug and adapted to hold the trace-plate in its adjusted position, as set. forth.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own we have hereto affixed our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES E. LINDSEY. DAVID N. GODDARD.
