NITED STATES ALBERT B. PLACE AND JOHN P. PETERSON, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
FINGER-RING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 307,869, dated November 11, 1884.
Application filed November 30. 1883. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that we, ALBERT B. PLACE and JOHN P. PETERsoN, of Providence, in the State of Rhode Island, have invented an Improvement in Finger-Rings, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to that class of fingerrings which are made adjustable in order to properly fit fingers of different sizes; and it consists in the improved construction of the adjustable catch by means of which the desired change in the size of the ring is to be made.
Figure 1 represents a side elevation of our improved fingerring. Fig. 2 represents a central section of the same.
In the accompanying drawings, A is the finger-ring provided with the opposite arms a a, the arm a being provided with a slide, 1), into which the opposite arm, a, is inserted. The slide 1) is provided on its outer side with the perforations c c 0, and the end of the arm a is provided with the spring 6, suitably at tached to the arm a, and provided with the stud or pin f, adapted to enter either of the holes on o, as desired. \Vhen the pinf is located in the middle hole 0, as shown in Fig. 2, the ring will be made of medium size, and by pressing upon the end of the pin f by means of a pointed instrument, and thus depressing 0 the spring, the arms a a may be extended so that the pin will enter the outer hole 0, thus causing the'enlargement of the ring, or the pin may be brought back to the inner hole 0,
which will cause the ring to be made smaller 35 than before, and in either position the ring will be permanently held for use. It is of course understood that the perforations a may be either made on the inner side of the slide 1) or on the edge of'the same, the spring 6 be- 40 ing correspondingly modified so as to perform the function required.
We claim as our invention In a finger-ring, the combination of the arm (0, provided with the slide b, having two or 45 ALBERT B. PLACE, JOHN P. PETERSON.
