B. P. DONNELL.
INK RESERVOIR FOR PAPER RULING MACHINES.
No. 298,735. Patented May 20, 1884.
&. llllmllllllllllllllllllll IlNiTED S'rmrns EDIVARD I. DONNELL, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
INK-RESERVOIR FOR PAPER RULING MACHINES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 298,735, dated May 20, 1884.
(No model.)
To ctZZ whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, EDWARD P. DoNNELL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ink-Reservoirs for Paper-Ruling Machines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in ink-holders for paper-ruling machines; and it consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the same, substantially as will be hereinafter more fully described, and set forth in the claim.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which myinvention appcrtains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l'is a perspective view of part of a ruling-maehine having my invention applied. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of my ink-holder.
A represents the frame of a paper-ruling machine of any of the well-known forms in common use; and B is a metal bar secured to the frame A by a bolt, a, and thu1nb-nut a, as shown, so that it may be turned to any desired position. The other end of thisbar Bis formed witha socket, b, in which turnsastud, 0, upon the bottom of a shallow pan or box, 0, which I provide with a number of sockets, c, in which the receptacles Dfor containing the ink are placed. The box may be made of any desired form or size to contain the number and quantity of inks found necessary. (I d are small posts secured within the pan 0, and formed with forked upper ends in which the brushes may be placed to retain them in place when not being used.
The device thus described is very simple, cheap, and handy, may be revolved and moved to any convenient position and swung entirely outside the frame of the machine for filling and cleaning, while one or more of the receptacles or dishes can be removed and others substituted whenever desired.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In an ink-holder forpaper-ruling machines, the combination of the pan 0, provided with sockets c, the forked posts d d, and the receptacles D, substantially as shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
EDWARD 1?. DONN ELL.
