SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 297.465, dated April 22, 1884.
Application led December 18, 1883.

Be it known that I, WILLIAM STARRLTT, a citizen of the United States, residing atNorth Manchester, in the county of Wabash and and useful Improvements in Door-Securers, of which the following is a specification, to wit:
This invention relates to an improvement in door-securers; and it consists in the peculiar construction of the same, substantially as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appcrtains-to make and use the same, I will now proceed to def scribe its construction and operation, referring to the accompanying drawings, in'which- Figure 1 is a transverse section of a door and its frame, with my device in practical device.
A represents a hook-shaped piece of metal, having upon one side, at right angles .to its main body, a iiange, a, and beyond this a half-cylindrical screw-threaded extension, a, formed on its flat side, with a socket, a2, as seen in the drawings. i
B represents a half-cylindrical piece flanged and screw-threaded to correspond exactly with I the extension a', and formed on its flat face with a projection, b, which enters the socket g in the opposite portion, and retains them in (No model.)
proper relation with each other. The parts a B are easily separated, but are held from' complete detachment by means of abent wide loop, C, having an enlargement, c, at its outer end, as shown. When the two parts aB are in position, they are held as by a nut, D, screwed upon them, as seen in Fig. l. In operation this nut is screwed off and back upon the wire C, and the hooked shank inserted between the door and jamb. When the door is closed, the hook is forced into the jamb, and the piece B and nut D being placed in position, the door is rmly held.
The device is of great use to any one traveling, and is easily carried in the pocket.

In a door-securer, the hook-shaped piece A, having a iiange, a, screw-threaded shank a', and socket a2, ain combination with the anged part B, having projection b, nut D, and bent wire loop O, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
