Application filed September 29,1883. (No specimens.)
10 all whom, it may concern Be it known that I, MANLIUS HUGGINS, of VVaynesborough, in the county of Wayne and State of Mississippi, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Medical Compounds,
act description.
The object'of this invention is to provide a tetter and other cutaneous diseases.
My compound consists of the following ingredients, combined in the proportions stated, viz: chrysophanic acid, thirty grains; pure glycerine, two drains; oil of Sassafras, one dram;- laudanum, one-half dram; Vaseline, four drams.
In preparing this compound the glycerine and tincture of laudanum are thoroughly mixed. The oil of sassafras and the chrysophanic acid are then added, and after all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed the Vaseline is added to form an ointment.
In using the compound the ointment is applied to the skin wherever affected with tetter or other cutaneous disease. The parts affected should be bathed in a solution of common salt and Warm water before making the first application of the ointment, and the ointment should thereafter be applied at intervals, according to circumstances.
By the use of this ointment instant relief is obtained, and by a continuous use the most obstinate cases will be cured.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The herein-described medical compound to be used for the cure of tetter and other cutaneous diseases, consisting of chrysophanic acid, pure glycerine, oil of sassafras, lauda o nuin, and Vaseline, in the proportions specified.
