Description

UNTTED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
PATRICK GORGORAN, OF YORK, NEBRASKA.
HORSE AND CATTLE LINIMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 265,219, dated September 26, 1882, Application filed July 21, 1882. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be .it known that I, PATRICK CORGORAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at York, in the county of York and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and useful composition of matter and fluid to be used for a blister as an irritant for the purpose of curing any kind of diseases-such as sprains, Ste-where an irritant is required, of which the following is a specification.
My composition consists of the followingingredients, combined in the proportions stated, viz: alcohol, one quart; cantharides, four ounces; mercurial ointment, four ounces; corrosive subliinate, two ounces; oil of vitriol, four ounces; muriate of ammonia, four ounces; tincture of iodine, four ounces; spirits of turpentine, eight ounces; oil ofspike, four ounces; oil ot'origanum, four ounces; oil of olive, four ounces; oil of amber, four ounces; British oil, four ounces; oil of cedar, four ounces; oil of hemlock, four ounces. These ingredients are to be thoroughly mingled together in the form and manner, one by one, in the manner and order in which they are put down.
In using the above-named com position, apply it to the place or part affected and rub in thoroughly with the hand. By the use of the above composition the part affected will be blistered, and by application several timesonce a daythe part affected will become sore and the disease removed. Then by greasing same with lard the sore will heal up without removal of the hair, This is the only composition that will cure hoof-bound or contracted feet or navicular diseases, and'in using the same for the above diseases it is to be applied around the coronet once a day for four or fii e days. This will cause the coronet organs to act.
I am not aware that a composition of this kind is in any book or in writing in any place.
1 am aware that blister-liniments have been used; but I am not aware that all of the ingredients of my composition, in the proportions stated, have been used together.
What I claim, and desire to securcbyLetters Patent of the United States, is-
The herein-described composition of matter or blister-liniment, consisting of alcohol, cantharides, mercurial ointment, corrosive sublimate, oil of vitriol, muriate of ammonia, tincture of iodine, spirits of turpentine, oil of spike,
oil of origanum, oil of olive, oil of amber,
British oil, oil of cedar, and oil of hemlock, in the proportions specified.
- PATRICK GORCORAN.
