a citizen ofthe United States, residing at UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN P. ONDERDONK, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
PAPER BAG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters' Patent No. 294,403, dated March 4, 1884.
Application filed June To all whom it may rconce rh:
Be it known that I, JOHN P. ONDERDONK,
Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Paper Bags,
I will first describe my invention, and then point it out specifically in the claim.
Figure 1 represents an ordinary paper tube, A, having inward bellows-folds, O. The four bottom corners of the tube A are then separated by cutting, as shown by the letters B B B B. The four corners D D D D are then turned inwardly and folded down upon the bellowsfolds, as shown in Fig. 2. Fig.3 shows a sec: tion of Fig. 2 cut through'the dotted linemx. In Fig. 4 the flap E is turned up and paste is applied, asshown by the dark crossed lines, and also paste is applied in the same position to the corners D D directly underneath the two corners shown in Fig. 4. The flap E is then turned back and the corners and bottom pasted together, as shown in Fig. 5. Fig. 6 shows the bag opened for use. Fig. S'rep- 13, I883. (No model.)
The four bottom corners of the tube A are separated by cutting the same as in Fig. 1. Paste is then applied on the corners F F F F,
as shown by the dark crossed lines which are 0 shown in Figs. 8 and 9, and also on the bottom of the tube. The corners F F F F are then turned inwardly, as shown in Fig. 9. The tube is then pressed together, which completes the bag, as shown in Fig. 10. Fig. 11 shows a 3 5 section cut through the dotted line y y, Fig. 10. Fig. 12 shows the bag opened for use. If preferred, the ends of the bellows-folds G G may be cutoff, as shown in Fig. 7.
, Having thus fully described my invention, 0 what I desire-to claim and secure by Letters Patent is A paper bag having inward bellows-folds in which the four outer bottom corners of the bellows-folds are cut, substantially as shown 5 and described, and one part of each of said corners is turned inwardly and pasted to the walls of the tube.
