EUGENE VON VARGYAS AND (TOSEPH W. DEIDRICK, 0F PITTSBURGH, EENNSY$VANIA.
coLLArsIBLn DRINKING--GUP.
To all whom, it may concern.
Be it known that we, (1) EUGENE Von VAnoYAs' and (2) JOSEPH W. DEIDBICK, (1) a subject of the King of Hungary and (2) a ,citizen ofthe United States ofAmerica,
without resorting to the use of staples or other fastening means.
Another object of this invention is to provide a one piece drinking cup having foldable edges thatiform a non-leakable recep tacle.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention resides in the novel construction to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and reference will nowbe had to the drawing, wherein-:
Figure 1 is a plan of a blank from which the cup is made, Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the blank partially folded, Fig.
- is a similar view showing the flaps of the blank folded, Fig, 4 is a similar view showing a further folding of the flaps, Fig. 5 is a similar. view of a cup, and Fig. 6 is an enlarged view of the upper edge of the cup.
The blank from which the cup is made comprises two sections 1 and 2 adapted to be folded one upon the other on the dot and'dash line 3. Each section has angularly disposed edges 4 and a curved outer edge 5,
the curved outer edge'fi'i of the section 2 being cut away intermediate the ends thereof, as at 6 to facilitate opening the walls of the receptacle formed by said sections.
After the section 2 is folded upon the section 1, the angularly disposed edges of said sections are folded upon the dot and dash line 7, thereby providing fla s 8. The flaps 8 have the confronting eges thereof Patented may 7, 1912.
folded upon the dot and dash lines 9 to provide auxiliary flaps l0, and. then the main flaps 8 are again folded upon the dot and dash lines 11-, whereby the auxiliary flaps 10 will be folded inwardly against the main flaps, with the fold'of the auxiliary flaps in parallelism with the fold of the main flaps. This folding of the flaps 8 is clearly shown in Figs. 3 to 5 inclusive and with the flaps approximately ti 9 same length as the sections of the receptacle, nonleakable connections are made between the two sections of the receptacle. l
The drinking cup can be made of light and durable waterproof paper, paperoid orother material and in actual practice the cup will hold water or other liquid for drinking purposes.
By pressing the folded edges of the clip toward each other by the thumb and fingers, the walls of the receptacle formed by the a sections 1 and 2 are open at the upper ends whereby water can be easily collected inthe cup. The manner of folding the edges of the sections 1 and 2 obviates the necessity of using any fastening means l y What we claim is,:--
A drinking cup in substantially flat form f and made from a single blank consisting of two similar parts integral with each other and adapted to be folded upon each other along the middle edge of the blank, each of said parts being formed with flaps which extend lengthwise along its side edges and which flaps are twice folded longitudinally and in the finished cup are interlocked-and lie on one side of the finished cup outside the latter.
In testimony whereof we afiix our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
