PAPER CAP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 30, 1910.
Patented Aug. 30, 1910. Serial No. 552,432.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER J. DELZEIT, J11, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rosedale, in the county of Atlantic and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper Caps, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in paper caps, the object of the invention being to provide a paper cap which may be manufactured and sold in the form of a card, to contain advertising matter if desired, and which contains fold lines and a mucilaged portion, so that all that is necessary to be done upon receipt of the card is to bend upon the folded lines, moisten the mucilaged portion and secure the cap together.
With this and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1, is a perspective View of my improved cap. Fig. 2, is a View of the card before folding.
The article is placed upon the market as shown in Fig. 2, in which a sheet of cardboard 1, or other suitable material is provided, and in its upper edge at its center, a curved recess 2 is made, and a plume 3 of paper or other suitable material is glued or otherwise fastened to sheet 1, as shown at 4, and extends over the recess portion 2.
Diagonal fold lines 5 are provided in the sheet 1, forming a central triangular portion 6, and triangular flaps 7 at the ends. One of these flaps 7 is provided at its edge with a coating of mucilage 8, so that when the sheet is folded upon the lines 5, and the right hand flap 7 is folded over the left hand fiap 7 and the mucilaged portion 8 moistened, and the flaps pressed together, a cap such as shown in Fig. 1 is made.
Various slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
As a new article of manufacture, a paper cap comprising a sheet, having a recess at the center of one edge, a plume secured to the sheet and extending across the recess, diagonal fold lines extending from said recess to the corners of said sheet, and one edge of said sheet between said recess and the end of the sheet, having a coating of adhesive thereon, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
PETER J. DELZEIT, JR.
