Description

(NoModeL) 1 T; JOHNSON.
GASOLINE VAPOR BURNER.
N 293' Patented Feb. 5
@Y/ Wm N. PETEB$ Pmm-mhn n hm wminglan. D. a
UNITED STATES PATENT OF CE,
THOMAS JoHNsoN, or s'r. LOUIS, tUSSOURL GASOLINE-VAPOR BURNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 2Q3,O32, dated February 5, 1884.
' Applicalion filed August 9,1883. (No modoLl To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, THOMAS JOHNSON, of the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri,
have invented a certain new and useful Im provement in Gasoline -Vapor Burners, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved burner-head connected to a tank by a suitable supply-pipe. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the burner-head on the line 2 2, Fig. 3. Fig.
3 is a top view thereof. Fig. 4-.is a horizontal section on the line 4; 4, Fig. l.
A is a tank; B, the supply-pipe, which may have a valve, B, and O the vertical hollow stem having valve-rod H, and through which the supply-pipe is connected to the burners.
G is a head-block formed with valve-seat g at bottom, vertical passage 9*, leading therefrom, radial passages g, hollow screw-threaded projections g",forrning extensions to the radial passages, and means by which the supports for the caps and jets can be secured removably to the head-block, and, lastly, with a neck,
by which the head-block is coupled to the Beneath the jets atray or plate is supported on the stem, and is formed with a number of oil-cups, one for each' jet. The valve-rod passes down through a stuffing box, I, on the lower end of thehollow stem. The lower end of the valve-rod is provided with a suitable lever, J, by which it is turned.
The valve-rod may be supported near its seat by a guide, a, so that it will always find its seat, and, as the point of bearing between the rod and stem is at their lower extremities, there is'no danger of them becoming fast, so that the former cannot be easily turned when heated by the burners.
Having thus described my invention, the following is what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
.111 a gasoline-vaporburner head, the combination of the head-block G, formed with valveseat g at bottom, neck 9', vertical passage g radial passages g, hollow threaded projections g, forming extensions to the radial passages, the supports D, secured to the projections and having central openings, (1, and passages d", in communication with the radial passages, extensions, and the'L-shaped jets E,
secured in the passages in the supports, as set SAML. KNIGHT, GEO. H. KNIGHT.
