skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or gures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. i
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of this invention applied to a barrel, and is a perspective View. Fig. 2 is also a perspective view, and shows the cover by itself. Fig. 3 is a detail in section, to show the backward slant of the kerf.
The inventionhas relation to barrel-covers; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of devices, as will behereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out inthe claim appended.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings. a designates the barrel, the upper head of which is removed. The cover is made in two sections, b c, hinged together. The section b is provided on its under face with blocks d d, which abut against the inner periphery of the barrel when in place. The rim or edge f of the section b is recessed at g g, to form seats for the upper extensions of the angular hook-arms h h. At one end of each recess an under inclined kerf, t, is made, to receive the arm h and permit it to be fastened at its lower end to the barrel, or to permit it to be turned under when the'covers are `to be packed for transportation. The upper extensions, k, are secured in place by staples Z Z.
This cover can be applied to the barrel by placing it in position and driving the `hookeuds of the arms into-the barrel, and it can be as readily removed by withdrawing the hooks. A suitable latch or fastening may be provided for the larger section of the vcover to hold it closed, if desired.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isM
As an improved article of manufacture, a sectional barrelcover having its sections hinged together, and the smaller 'section provided with abutment-blocks on its under face, in combination with hinged hook-arms seated in recesses in the rim of the rear section, and
adapted to engage the body of `the barrel by
