To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that I, MALCOLM McDoWELL, of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented anew and useful Improvement in Metal Shapes Applicable to the Manufacture of XVheel-Spokes and Harrow-Teeth, of which the following is a description, the letters referring to parts designated by similar letters in the accompanying drawing.
The shapeis rolled from a bar into an irregular form, which is round atone end and flattened down into an oval at the'other, the intermediate portion having a triangular or diamond shaped ridge or fin rising up from the round portion, and continuing until it terminatesoin the oval portion.
In the drawing accompanying and illustrating the specification, A is a side elevation of the shape showing the widening of the round untilit terminates in the oval. B is a plan of the shape showing a triangular or diamond shaped ridge rising up outof a round and terminating in an oval. Gisa section on line n m, showing the round portion. 25 D is a section on line 0 1;, showing the combined oval and diamond portion; and E is a section on line x 3 showing the oval portionJ \Vhat I claim is- The particular form herein described and o shown of a bar of metal from which to form Wheel-spokes, barrow-teeth, or other articles, having at one end a lenticular section, the larger diameter of which regularly diminishes and the shorter increasestill both become 35 equal at or near the other end of the bar, which has there a circular sectionwhile at intermediate points the larger diameter terminates in sharp ridges and the shorter diameter is limited by a curved surface. 0
