LAM P-STOVE.

My invention consists in the attachment to the standard of a students lamp of an adjustable bracket carrying an annular arm for sup porting a-kettle, pan, or other heating utensil over the chimney of the lamp for heating water, &c.

A is the standard of a lamp of the kind commonly designated as astudents lamp.

B is the oil-reservoir, connected by a pipe, O, with the burner D, and forming the lamp proper, which is attached to the standard adjustably by means of the set-screw E. The ring F in these lamps is screwed onto the top of the standard. All these parts are in common use and well known.

G is a bracket having holes in the horizon tal bars G to receive the standard, which is inserted by removing the ring F and sliding the bracket down on the standard, to which it is adjustably attached by means of a set-screw,

H. The same means permit the removal of the bracket. The stem G has at the top a threaded pintle to receive the socket of an annular arm, I, which is secured in place by a nut, I. This annular arm extends over the chimney of the lamp and exposes to the heat of the lamp the bottom of the vessel which it may carry.

' I am aware that various modes of supporting a utensil over the chimney of a lamp have been introduced. Thus they have been carried by means of a tubular stem which receives the end of a rod or standard supported on the chimney or on the lamp proper; also, independently of the lamp by means of a tripod standing on the table around the lamp, or by a rod extending from a foot-piece or platform on which. the lamp stood. My invention is distinguished from these in the structure of the bracket itself as well. as in its combination with the standard which supports adjustably as well the bracket as the lamp, and counterpoises the utensil by the oil-reservoir. The upward extension of the stem G", which car ries the arm I, also admits of the elevation of the utensil above the chimney, even though the standard itself was too short.

It is not necessary that the bracket should be made with the lamp, for it may be made and sold separately and attached by the purchaser; but my patent is intended to cover the bracket adapted for use in the manner specified.

\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The bracket G, formed with a stem, G carrying the annular arm I, and with horizontal bars G, having holes to receive the standard of a student slamp passing through the bracket, and adjustably support the utensil, so that its weight is counterbalanced by that of the oilreservoir, substantially as set forth.
