Description

(No Model.)
J. W. DIMOGK.
NEGKTIE FASTENER. No. 278,690. Patented June 5,1883.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE- JOHN \V. DTMOOK, OF CABBONDALE, PENNSYLVANIA.
NECKTlE-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 278,690, dated June 5, 1883.
Application filed April 5, 1883.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN NV. DIMocK, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Carbondale, county of Lackawanna, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved N ecktie-Fastener, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in necktie-fasteners, and the object of my improvement is to afford a simple and convenient method for keeping the necktie in position when placed around the collar, and yet without injuring the necktie. I attain this object by the necktie-fastener illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents a front view of the improvednecktie-fastener. Fig. 2 represents the pin D, as described in the specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction, from block-tin or other metal, of the new and improved necktie-fastener, having a base-bar, A, from each end of which and at right angles runs a side bar, B B, on a plane surface, and from center of base-bar, A, a center bar, 0, at right angles with it, with slightly deflected surface to end of bar to permit entrance of collar in the deflection between bars B B and O, and the pin D reversed or bent back from the end of center bar, 0, being an (N0 model.)
extension of or application to the center bar, 0, and extending to or toward the base-bar, A, which pin D is inserted in cravat or necktie, fastening tie and collar together and holding the necktie in place.
The manner of using the necktie-fastener is as follows: Place the collar in the deflection between the side bars, B B, and 0. Then adjust the necktie, and when in proper position insert the pin D into it.
The advantages of 'iny invention are, first, that it is a simple and convenient method for fastening the necktie to the collar; second, that when properly adjusted it will keep its position under all circumstances; third, that it will retain its position without mutilating the necktie; fourth, that when in place it is entirely hidden from view and is durable and reliable.
WVhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The metal necktie-fastener with base-bar A, side bars, B B, center bar, 0, and pin D, all constructed, arranged, and operated as and for the purposes set forth above.
