MI UV-LIIJ United States PatentO HOSIERY DISPLAY DEVICE Robert Kayton, Jackson Heights, Walter Freundel, Brooklyn, Harry R. Jeter, New York, and Beatrice Dudek, Garden City, N. Y., assignors to Chadbourn Sales Corporation, a corporation of New York Application October 8, 1953, Serial No. 384,872 4 Claims. (Cl. 206-78) that a merchandising stock does not need to be disturbed while a selection of the particular type of hosiery desired is being made by a customer. Briefly described, this history display device is characterized by an upstanding display board having display envelopes arranged thereon to contain reeled hose with a portion of the hose extended therefrom for display in relation to color identification means or other indicia which may be carried by the display envelope.
These and other features of the hosiery display device of the present invention are described in detail below in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a hosiery display device embodying the present invention;
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the hosiery display device shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken substantially on the line 33 in Fig. 2;
Fig. 4 is a plan view of an unfolded display envelope such as is shown incorporated in the hosiery display de vice illustrated in Figs. 1, 2 and 3.
Fig. 5 is a plan view opposite to that in Fig. 4 and showing the reel panel of the display envelope folded in place with a hose reeled thereon while leaving a hose portion extended for display;
Fig. 6 is a plan view corresponding to Fig. 5 with the cover panel of the display envelope shown folded in place and interlocked with the folded reel panel; and
Fig. 7 is a perspective view of a display envelope having a reeled hose contained therein and ready for mounting on the display board.
Referring now in detail to the drawing, the upstanding display board referred to above is incorporated in the embodiment illustrated in two portions as indicated by the reference numerals 10 and 12, these display board portions 10 and 12 being joined in angled relation and assembled uprightly with a base plate 14 to form a standing structure.
Each display board portion 10 and 12 is fitted with upper and lower support rails as at 16 and 18, and and 22, that are mounted horizontally in spaced relation and have the respective opposed faces thereof grooved as at 16, 18' and 20' and 22, for engaging and supporting the previously mentioned display envelopes which are indicated generally by the reference numeral 24 and from which the hose are extended for display as at H.
The form of these display envelopes 24 is shown in detail in Figs. 4 to 7 of the drawings. Fig. 5 shows 'a plan of the unfolded display envelope 24 in which its developed form is seen to comprise a main or front face panel 26 having foldably joined thereto at one side edge a reel panel 28; at the other side edge a back cover panel 30; at the top edge a top mounting edge portion 32; and
The reel panel 28 serves to carry the reeled hose H with in the display envelope 24, and Fig. 5 shows the reel panel 28 folded behind the front face panel 26 for this purpose. The reel panel 28 has its top and bototm edges notched as at 38 and 40 to receive the reeled hose H;
thereon in general alignment with a notch or aperture 42 in the front face panel 26 and through which aperture 42 the hose portion to be displayed may be extended from the reel panel 28.
The back cover panel 30 is provided to retain the reeled hose H in place once it has been arranged on the reel panel 28, and for this purpose the cover panel 30 is formed at its remote side edge with tab portions as at 44 and 46 proportioned for insertion through the reel notches 38 and 40 to interlock with the reel panel 28 in generally covering relation with respect to a hose H reeled thereon as illustrated in Fig. 6.
Fig. 7 shows the display envelope 24 fully folded and interlocked with a reeled hose H contained therein and extended for display, and with the spacer portion 34 folded to arrange the bottom mounting edge portion 36 in relation to the top mounting edge portion 32 ready for insertion in the grooves 16' and 18 (or 20 (and 22) of the support rails 16 and 18 (or 20 and 22). It will be noted that the front face notch 42 through which the hose H is extended for display may be advantageously arranged adjacent the bottom of the front face panel 26 so that a major portion of the front face panel 26 remains available to carry indicia such as identifying legends as at 48 or complementary dress fabric samples as at 36.
The mounted disposition of the display envelopes 24 is such that the front face panels 26 are inclined outwardly in a downward direction with respect to the display board portions 10 and 12, so that the extended portions of the hose H hang freely from the display envelopes 24 onto the base plate 14 for easy handling and examination, as seen in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, This arrangement is provided by a spacing of the support rails 16 and 18 (or 26 and 22) at an extent less than the length of the display envelope front face panel 26, so that the spacer angled relation with respect to the front face panel 26 in order to engage the mounting edge portions 32 and 36 in the support rail grooves 16' and 18' (or 20 and 22'). This arrangement also results in biasing the mounting edge portions 32 and 34 within these support rail grooves by reason of the folding bias of the spacer portion 34 with the front face panel 26.
The hosiery display device of the present invention may also be fitted with a suitable illuminating means as at 52 mounted adjacent the top edges of the display board portions 10 and i2, and may have other decorative devices arranged thereon as desired, such as a mirror piece 54 arranged behind a model figure 56.
The present invention has been described in detail above for purposes of illustration only and is not intended to be limited by this description or otherwise except as defined in the appended claims.
