US. Patent DEVICE FOR PACKAGING ANDPRESENTATION OF KNITTED OR 'I-IOSIERY. ARTICLES SUCH AS MORE PARTICULARLY, STQCKINGS .OR TIGIITS The present invention has essentially. for its object a method and a device for packaging presentation of knitted or hosiery articles such as stockings, tightsb'r the like sold in closesd packages such as boxes. i
A drawback of the closed packages containing-knitted or hosiery articles such as stockings and tights is that they do not allow the buyer to appreciate by the touch the quality of the textile material from which the packaged article is made.
Various solutions have been proposed consisting, in particular, in showing the articles through transparent sight-openings provided in the packaging boxes. However, either the customer is not satisfied since she cannot exactly judge by the touch of the quality of the article, or the package is opened, in which case the articles may become depreciated and even damaged.
The method and device according to the present invention allow the aforementioned drawbacks to be avoided.
To this end, the method of the invention consists. in forming on one face of the closed package, such as a closed box, an opening allowing the neck of a small packaging bag for the said article to come out from the said box, the said neck being formed in a material identical with that of the article.
The customer is thus allowed to appreciate by the sight and touch of the bag neck the quality of the articles contained in the pockets without however touching the articles themselves.
A further advantage of the invention lies in the fact that, the sample constituting a tubular envelope and the article itself being knitted in a tubular manner, the buyer can judge quite precisely of the exact characteristics of the textile material from which the article packaged in the small bag is made.
In making the smallbag, the latter may be initially in the shape of a tube whose upper portion which will constitute the neck is formed necessarily in the same material as the article to be sold, whereas the rest of the tube, or body of thesmall pocket, may comprise supple ,thick threads and be closed at its end by means ofa clip or hosiery articles such as stockings or tights, according to the present invention; FIG. 2 is a side view, partially broken away, of a small bag which can be associated with the package box;
FIG. 3 shows a detail of a modified form of embodiment.
According to the form of embodiment illustrated in,
FIG. 1, a device for packaging and presentation of knitted articles such as stockings, tights or the like is exter- 'nally in the form of a box 10. This box is for example in the shape of a rectangle parallelepiped comprising a face 12 forming an opening flap of the box. According to the example illustrated, one of the two larger faces of box is provided with an opening 14 from which the neck 16 of a small bag 18 comes out. The body of ing to the invention is madein the following reference to FIG. 2.
-1: appears in-iFlGs2 that the small bag 18 is an'envelope or sheath having a mouth 20 and at least the neck 16, of which is formed in a material identical with that of the article intendedto be packaged inthe pocket.
The remaining portion or body 22 of the bag may be made from a supple textile material thicker than the one constituting the neck 16 so as to closely enclose the article 24 packaged in the bag in the form of a ball. The article 24 appears more clearly in the broken-away portion of the body 22 of bag 18, where it is shown, by means of close dots, that the article 24 and the bag neck 16 are both constituted by an identical textile material.
It also appears from FIG. 2 that, according to the example illustrated, the bag 18 formed initially a substantially cylindrical envelope with two mouths, the opposite end of the neck 16 having thereafter been contracted and closed by means of a clip 26 of, for example, plastics or metal. Other forms of embodiment are however possible, one of which may consist in forming the body 22 by a neck connected by one of its edges to the neck 16.
The packaging of an article is then performed as follows: the article 24, which may consist for example of tights or stockings, is introduced in the form of a ball into the bag 18 through the mouth 20; the bag is thereafter introduced into the box of FIG. 1, the body 22 first, so that once the bag is completely introduced, the neck 16 can be readily taken out through the box opening 14. Thus, the opening 14 is preferably located at a small distance from the opening flap 12 of the box 10. The flap is thereafter turned down to close the box 10 as shown in FIG. 1.
Of course, the invention is by no means limited to the form of embodiment illustrated and described which has been given by way of example only, the invention comprising all technical equivalents to the means described as well as their combinations, should the latter be carried out according to its spirit and within the scope of the following claims.
For example, as illustrated in FIG. 3, the opening 14' formed in the box 10 may have substantially the shape of an 8 with a larger portion l4a and a smaller portion 14'!) interconnected by a neck 30 of reduced width. The end 16 of the packaging pocket can. thus be taken out and retained in the portion l4b.
What is claimed is: I
' l. A packaging and presentation assembly comprising a closed package having a surface provided with an opening; a hosiery article formed from a given fabric and contained in said closed package; and a packaging bag contained in said package and containing said h0- siery article, said packaging bag having a mouth being formed from said fabric, said portion extending outwardly through said opening provided in said closed package.
2. A packaging and presentation assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein said bag further includes a portion formed of supplethick threads.
