2 Claims. (Cl. -160) This invention relates to bathtub brushes adapted to 1 be supported against the end or side Wall of a bathtub for the convenience of a bather in scrubbing his back while in the process of taking a bath.
An object of this invention is to provide a bathtub brush having a support which is hooked over the upper rim of the top of a bathtub.
Another object of this invention is to provide a bathtub brush which is resiliently spaced from the end wall of a bathtub, thereby providing a space for Water circul-ation and a more eflicient Washing action.
A further object of this invention is to provide a bathtub brush having a support member of Wire which lends itself to inexpensive manufacture 'and ease of operation.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide a bathtub brush so constructed as to allow it to be qnickly and conveniently mounted within and removed from the tub as required.
These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts thronghout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view showing the bathtub brush of this invention mounted upon the end wall of a bathtub;
Figure 2 is a front elevaton of the bathtub brush of this invention; and
Figure 3 is a side elevation showing the details of the bathtub brush.
Referring now more spccifically to Figura 1 of the drawing, it will be scen that the numeral 10 gcnerally designates the bathtub brush of this invention mounted upon the upper rim 12 of a bathtub 14.
Now referring more specifically to Figures 2 and 3, it will be seen that the bathtub brush 10 includes a plurality of elongated Wire members 16 forming a framelike support. The upper ends of the el'ongated members 16 are return bent and joined together by 'a cross-member 18 which forms a downturned book-like member 20 which is adapted to be positioned over the edge of a bathtub. The lower ends of the elongated members 16 are joined together by a cross-piece 22 having extensions 24 thereon which form an abutment against the bottom of the bathtub 14 when the brush 10 is .mounted in operative position.
As best seen in Figure 2, inner spaced horizonal crosspieces 26 are secured between the elongated members 16 and a brush 28 is secured between adjacent elongated members 16 and attached to the inner cross-members 26. In the `specific embodiment as disclosed, there are four elongated members 16 and three brush members 28. A pair of outer cross-members 30 are spaced from the inner cross-members 26 and extend horizontally across the 70 ited States Patent O 'ice elongated members 16 and secured between adjacent elongated members 16 to the outer cross-member 30 is a plurality of Wire members 32 having a Wire loop 34 at its remote end which lies adjacent the cross-pieces 26 and it Will be seen that these Wire loops 34 engage the end wall of the bathtub 14 and resiliently space the elongated members 16 and the brushes 28 from the end or side wall of the bathtub 14.
The operation of the device will be readly understood. With the brush 10 in position as shown in Fgure 1, a person may Wash his back by simply moving his back across the brushes 28. The resilient Wire loops 34 provide a springing action which permits a more ei'licient washing operation. Obviously, the device of this invention may be used by persons handicapped, such as a person having only one arm. Further, this device may be made of any suitable Wire stock as shown in this specific embodment, however, the specific arrangement of elements and structural details may be modified as desired.
From the foregoing, the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since nuinerous modificatious and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordlngly, all suitable modications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed as new is as follows:
l. A brush for positioning on 'a Vertical wall of a support comprising a generally rectangular Wire frame having a plurality of spaced parallel longitudinal members, and a pair of spaced parallel transverse members adj acent each end of the longitudinal members, a plurality of cylindrical brushes supported between the inner transverse members with the brushes being disposed between adjacent longitudinal members, means adjacent the opposite ends of the Wire frame for supporting the Wire frame on the wall of a support, and means resiliently spacing the Wire' frame from the support, said last named means including a plurality of Wire members with a Wire loop on the free end thereof, one of said Wire members being connected to the outer transverse member between each longitudinal member, said wire members projec-ting rear- W-ardly and inwardly and terminating in a Wire loop extending toward the plane of the longitudinal members whereby the Wire members form Springs for resiliently holding the brushes away from the side wall of the support thereby providing a spring action during a washing action.
2. The structure as defined in claim l wherein said support means includes a. reversely bent upper end portion on each longitudinal member and a transverse end Wire at -the free ends of the reversely bent portions, and a transverse end member at the lower end of the longitudinal members for engagement with the bottom of a bathtub when the reversely bent end portion is disposed in hooked relation to the rm of a bathtub.
