Another objectis to provide a brush holder having a stationarz;T brush lined thereto and a removable lbrush mounted thereon which may be replaced by a hath ton'el when desired.
1With the toregoing and other objects in view which Will appear the des ription proceeds, the invention resides in the coinbination and arrangement ot parts and in the details ot' construction hereinatter described and claimed, it being understood thatl changes in the precise embodiment ot the invention hereindisclosed, may be made Within the scope ot what is claimed Without departing trom the spirit ot the invention.
In the accompanying drawings Figure l. represents a front elevation ot a brush constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof; and
Fig. 3 is a rear elevation.
ln the embodiment illustrated the brush holder l is shown in the form` of a plate of Wood or other suitable material having a brush 2 on its front tace extending throughout a portion of its length and secured thereto in any suitable manner, the bristles of which are shown convex or curved longitudinally to conform to the curvature ot a persons bach. This plate l is equipped with a spring cla-mp 6 designed to detachably secure a brush 5.
The clamp 6 which bears against one edge ot the back ot the brush 5 as shown clearly in Fig. 2 is shown constructed of a coiled Wire 7 mounted on a rod 8 carried by the upper end of plate l and which has a clamping jaw substantially L-shaped in end elevation which is designed to engage the edge of the back of brush 5 and yieldably connect it to plate l by clamping it between the upper edge oit the bz ck ot' brush 2 and said jaw.
The brush holder attaching device l() comprises a piece ot heav)T Wire bent intermediate its ends to form a loop ll the members ot' which are connected bv a clip l2 through which a screv.v i3 passes and enters the plate l to secure the member l0 thereto the loop ll being arranged longitudinally relative to said plate.
The tree ends ot the Wire diverge at the upper end of the plate as shown at 14 and then extend parallel tor a portion ot' their length beyond the end of the brush to form arms l5 which are curved rearwardly and provided at their terminals With inturned hooks 1G designed to engage the head or edge of a bath tulo.
One end of the coil spring 7 is shown engaged with one of the arms 14 to cause the spring` to exert a clamping action on the jaw 6.
ln the use of this brush holder the member l0 is mounted on a bath tub b v hooking the ends 16 over the edge of the tub and the brush 2 may then be used for scrubbing the bathers backv it being` understood that the bather rubs up and down on the brush. The hrush 5 may be removed and used for scrubbingother parts of the bodyY and When through bathing a bath towel, not shown, may be held by the clamp 6 for drying` the back or any suitable element may be substituted for the brush.
From the above description it Will be obvious that a brush holder constructed as herein shown and described will be simple and cheap to manufacture and hence Will be available tor persons of all classes and it may remain suspended from the bath tub when not in use or removed and stored in some convenient place.
l. .a bath brush holder comprising a plate having brush holding means on its front face and an attaching device secured to its rear tace and made in the form of a heavy wire loop with a clip connecting the members of said loop, said members diverging at their tree ends, said diverging ends extending beyond one end ot said pla-te vand being curved rearwardly and provided With inturned hooks to engage a support, the tree ends ot said hook being equipped with thumb screws.
2. A bath brush holder comprising a plate lia-Ying a spring Clamp carried by one vided with intui'ned hooks to engage a supend for engaging a brush to be held, and port. means on said plate to cooperate with said In testimony that I Claim the foregoing the rear face of said plate and made in the ture in the presence of tWo Witnesses.k .form of a heavy W'iie loop With a clip oonmeeting the 'members of said loop, said members diverging at their free ends and projecting beyond one end of said plate, m said ends being Curved reai'wai'dly and pro- NICHOLAS BURKART.
