Be it known that I, Mosns E. Tnso, a citizen of the United States, residing at Laurel, in the county of Yellowstone and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath Fixtures, of which the following is a specification, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings. v This invention relates to certain improve ments in bath fixtures and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and im proved device of thisigeneral character especially. designed and adapted for use in the washing of a back.

It is also an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved device of this general character which is employed as an attachment for use in connection with a bath-tub. and wherein means are provided for efi'ectivel maintaining the device in applied or wor ing position.

An additional object of the invention is to provide a novel and-improved device of this general character embodying a member supported for reciprocatory movement, said member being adapted to carrya cleanmg element and wherein means are provided for imparting the required movement to the member.

The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved bath fixture whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, [as w1ll be herelnafter more fully set forth. The-novel'features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.

In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a view partly in section and partly in elevation illustrating a bath fix ture constructed in accordance with an em bodiment of my invention and in applied position;

As herein disclosed, my improved device comprises an arcuate member 1 substantially semi-circular in form and which has each of its extremities provided with a cross head 2 whereby the member 1 may be riveted or otherwise secured to the central portion of a plate 3.

The plate 3 is of desired dimensions and has its side portions defined by the reverted flanges 4, each of said flanges being provided with a series of longitudinally spaced openings 5 for a purpose to be hereinafter more particularly referred to.

' A second member or plate 6 is adapted to overlie the plate 3' and the side marginal portions of said plate 6 are defined by the inwardly directed flanges 7-adapted to overlap and have close contact with the flanges V 4 of the plate 3. The flanges 7 are continued by the'inwardly directed flanges 8 adapted to'straddle the free longitudinal the plate or member 6 is supported for sliding movement by the plate 3. v The flanges 7 and 8 are also provided with openings 9. These openings are adapted to be selectively brought into register with the openings 5 of the plate 3 and through said openings is adapted to be disposed a rod 10 whereby the plates '3 and 6 will be locked against relamarginal portions of the flanges 4 whereby is a suction on 15 preferably of rubber, while the opposite end portion of the post 14 is provided with a-goose neck 16. Engaged with the free extremity of the goose neck 16 is a pulley or sheave 17. The. sleeve 12 and the post 14 are adapted to be adjusted one with respect to the other along the post 14 and the sleeve 12 as herein dis closed is held by the binding screw 18 threaded through a wall of the sleeve for requisite contact. with the post 14.

Connecting the end portions of the member 1 but spaced from the associated plate 2 is a rod' 19 to the central portion of which is operatively engaged the terminals of a retractible spring 20, the opposite terminal of said spring is operatively connected as at 21 with an'olfset head 22 of a rod 23. The rod23 is secured to an end po tion of the plate 6 and extends therebeyond, Also secured to the'head 22 is a flexible member 24 passing over the pulley or'shea've 17 and terminating in a hand grasp 25. Upon imposing pull upon the member 24 the plate 6, with the rod 10 removed moves the plate 6 in one direction with respect to the plate 3,

' such movement placing the sprii'ig 20 under is therefore, to be obvious, that by intermittent pull upon the flexible member 24 the plate 6 maybe reeiprocated as desired.

As herein disclosed 'the cleaning element C comprises a brush held to the plate 6 by the clips 26, each ofthe clips 26 has one end portion operatively engaged with the back of the brush while the opposite end' portion of said elipfis freely disposed through a loop 27 properly positioned upon a flange 7 and engaged with said end por tion of the clip 26 outwardly of the loop 27 and coacting with said loop is a holding nut.28.. .In' lieu of the brush a cloth or other preferred element may be employed.

My improved device is adapted to be employedv in connection with a bathtub and when in working position the post 14 is positioned within an end portionof a tub'T with the cup 15 presseddown on the bottom of the tub to obtain a vacuumhold for the lower end of the post 14. To further maintain the device in applied -orworking position I provide the holding members or from above the rim 37 of the tub. The bill of the hook member 36 has threaded therethrough a clamping or set screw 33 which is adapted to engage the mm 37 from below whereby the outer end portion of the memher or arm His effectively maintained in working engagement with the rim. 37. The shank of the hook member 36 is preferably cased within a rubber sheet 39 or the like.

In Figure 7 1 illustrate an embodiment of my invention wherein the holding member or arm H comprises two sections the opposed ends of which being adj-ustably connected by a turnbuckle 40 and whereinthe outer or free end of the section 29 is provided with a split loop 41 for 'coaction with the member 1, said loop 41 being maintained closed by a sorew42 or the like.

From the foregoing description it is throught to be obvious that a bath fixture constructed in accordance with my invention is'particularly well adapted for use b reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, and it will alsobe obvious that my invention is susceptible of some;change and modi -fication without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement andfor cept as hereinafter claimed.

1. A bath fixture comprising, in combination, a post, a suction cup at one end of the post, a plate operatively engaged with the. post and supported thereby, a second plate slidably engaged with the first named plate, a cleaning element carried by the second plate, and holding members operatively engaged with the first named plate.

2. A bath fixture comprising, in combi nation, a post, a suction cup at one end of the post, a plate operatively engaged with the post and supported thereby, a second plate slidably engaged with the first named plate, a cleaning element carried by the secuse 0nd plate, holding members operatively engaged with the first named plate, and means carried by the holding members for engagement with the rim of a tub.

3. A bath fixture comprising a post, a plate operatively engaged therewith and supported thereby, a plate slidably engaged with the first named plate, a cleaning element carried by the second plate, manually operated meane for imparting movement to the second plate in one direction, and means coacting with both of the plates for auto matically moving the second plate in the opposite direction.
