BRUSHING APPARATUS FOR WASHING THE HUMAN BODY.

This invention relates to a brushing apparatus for washing the human body, in which the brush is mounted at the end of a tube adapted to be moved up and down on a support so that the brush having a cloth cover can be used for washing the back of a person. The invention relates further to the means for guiding the brush tube and to means designed to facilitate the moving up and down of the brush.
An embodiment of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 shows the brushing apparatus in side elevation.
Figs. 2 and 3 show means for removably mounting the brush in the apparatus.
The apparatus comprises a U-shaped tube 1 at the lower end of which a brush holder 2 is lined, and a vertical rod 3 on which said holder is guided by means of two rollers 2 anc 2". On the front end of the holder 2 a brush 9 is fixed which has a removable cover of cloth, a string being attached to the rear end of said holder 2. The string is guided over an upper pulley 4; and at tached at the other end to a counter weight 5. A second string is attached at the one endto the other side of the counter weight 5, guided over a lower pulley 6 and attached at the other end, through the intermediary of a spiral spring 7 or another stretching device, to the rear end of the holder 2. On the upper end of the upright 3 a guide piece 8 for the tube 1 is arranged which has two rollers 14 and 15 between which the tube 1 is guided. On the rear end of the guide piece 8 the upper pulley 1 is mounted. The lower pulley 6 is rotatably mounted in a holder fixed near the lower end on the upright 3. The counter weight 5 serves to facilitate the up and down movement of the tube 1 with the brush 9. As the string is guided over an upper pulley and over a lower pulley, swinging of the counter weight in lateral direction is avoided. The brush 9 is removably fixed on the holder 2 by means of a sheet iron plate carrying two stud bolts 12, 13 (Fig. 2). On the holder 2 a sheet metal plate (Fig. 3) is fixed which has 29,261, and. in Luxemburg July 23, 1924.
two horizontal slots 10 and 11 in the opposite ends, the slot 10 being about twice as long as slot 11. These slots are designed to receive the stud bolts 12 and13 of the brush.
The brush is about 18 cm. long and 10 cm. wide and has horse hair bristles about 2-4: cm. long.
To fix the brush on the holder the one stud bolt is inserted into the slot 10 and then the other stud bolt is inserted into the slot 11 whereupon the nuts on the stud bolts are tightened. To remove the brush from the holder the nuts are loosened and the brush is pulled forward until the bolt 13 gets out of slot 11 whereupon stud bolt 12 can be disengaged from slot 10.
The brush has a cloth cover adapted to be buttoned on or off.
The apparatus described serves mainly for brushing the back of a person standing under a douche. To move the brush up and down over the back the bather grips the free end of tube 1 and moves it up and down.
I claim 2- 1. An apparatus for brushing the human body comprising in combination an upright, a tube in the shape of an inversed U serving as handle, a brush holder at the lower end of the inner arm of said tube said holder being movably guided on said upright, a horizontal guide piece at the upper end of said upright, two rollers in the front part of said horizontal guide piece between which rollers said tube is guided, two rollers in the rear part of said brush holder said rollers bearing from either side against said up right, and a brush removably fixed to the front end of said holder so that when said bent tube is moved up and down on said upright said brush is rubbed over the back of the person who operates said tube.

a tube in the shape of an inversed U serving as handle, a brush holder at the lower end of the inner arm of said tube said holder being inovably guided on said upright, a horizontal guide piece at the upper end of said upright, two rollers on the front part of said horizontal guide piece between which rollers said tube is guided, two rollers in the rear part of said brush holder said rollers bearing from either side against said upright, a pulley in the rear end of said hori- J zontal guide piece, a pulley in the rear end of said brush holder, a string guided over said pulleys, a counterweight inserted in said string, and a brush reniovably fixed to the front end of said holder so that when said bent tube is moved up and down on said upright said brush is rubbed over the back of the person Who operates said tube.
