6 Claims. (Cl. 160-349) My invention relates to a new and useful adjustable holder device for a curtain tie-back pin.
It is an object of my invention to provide a curtain tieback pin holder device adapted to be fixed to a window frame and incorporating means for selectively adjusting the position of the curtain tie-back pin without removing the holder from the frame, whereby to prevent marring or defacing of the window frame and to preserve a neat and pleasing appearance.
Another object of my invention is to provide a curtain tie-back pin holder which facilitates vertical adjustment of the tie-back pin without requiring that the pin be removed from the holder device.
A curtain tie-back pin holder according to my invention is broadly characterized by the provision of an elongated case having a slotted wall portion extending lengthwise thereof, and a slider member carried within the case for sliding movement lengthwise thereof, the slider member having tie-back pin receiving means aligned with the slotted wall portion and being adapted to bear against the case with sufficient force to maintain its adjusted position.
The foregoing and other objects and advantages of a curtain tie-back pin holder in accord with my invention will become clearly apparent upon a perusal of the ensuing detailed description taken together with the accompanying drawing wherein like reference numerals denote like parts throughout the various views and wherein:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of an assembled holder device of my invention;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a closure member for the upper end of the holder device of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a closure member for the lower end of the holder device of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the tie-back pin receiving slider member.
Referring now to the accompanying drawing which illustrates a preferred form of tie-back pin holder device in accord with my invention, there is provided an elongated case generally designated 1 of a suitable material formed to provide opposing generally flat side wall parts and rounded front and back wall parts. Case 1 is provided with a pair of aligned openings 2 through its opposite side wall parts adjacent the upper end thereof, and with a pair of aligned openings 3 through its opposite side wall parts adjacent the lower end thereof, for a purpose to be described, and the rounded front wall part has a slot 4 therethrough along the complete length thereof. It will be appreciated that case 1 is readily formed as a unitary member.
A pair of end closure members 6 and 7 are provided for closing the upper and lower ends, respectively, of case 1, and these members are in the form of plugs of plastic or other suitable material. Plug members 6 and 7 are provided with openings therethrough, shown at 9 and 8, respectively, and these plug members are fitted in the opposite ends of case 1, with the openings 9 and 8 therethrough aligned with openings 2 and 3, respectively in the side wall parts of case 1. vices such as nails are then inserted through the aligned openings at the upper and lower ends of case 1 and driven into the frame of the window or door, as the case may be, for securing the holder case 1 to such frame.
Case 1 carries therein a slider member 5 which is slidable lengthwise of case 1 and which preferably comprises a unitary member of spring metal, copper or brass formed with seamed upper and lower edges 16 and 11, respectively, to strengthen its structure and tensile characteristics, thereby enabling and facilitating the use of light gage metal. Member 5 is formed centrally thereof to provide a front generally cylindrical section 12 having opening 13 through the forward wall portion thereof in alignment with slot 4 in case 1. At the outer ends thereof, member 5 is formed to provide opposed generally semi-cylindrical sections 14 and 15 which together form a rear split generally cylindrical section. The front section 12 is joined to the rear section 14 by a generally fiat back rib section 16 and to the rear section 15 by generally fiat front rib section 17 having formed therein a groove 18 extending centrally therealong between the front and rear sections 12 and 15, groove 18 being aligned with slot 4 and opening 13.
In operation, the holder device is secured to the window or door frame by fastening devices passing through the aligned openings in the holder case, and when the case is fastened to the side of the frame the slot 4 will be vertically positioned and facing forwardly. The tie-back pin 20 is inserted through slot 4 and opening 13 and into the groove 13 which guides the pin between the rib sections 16 and 17. Groove 18 is of a size such that when the pin 20 is inserted therein it will cause the rib sections 16 and 17 to resiliently expand or separate which will in turn urge the semi-cylindrical sections 14 and 15 against the opposite inner side wall parts of the case 1 with suflicient pressure to secure the slider member 5 in its adjusted position in case 1. At the same time, the resilient slider rib sections 16 and 17 will bear against the tie-back pin for retaining it in slider member 5.
When it is desired to adjust the position of the tie-back pin 20, the pin is merely grasped and moved upwardly and downwardly, as the case may be, bodily as a unit with slider member 5, with slot 4 allowing such movement of the tie-back pin in opposite directions and with slider member 5 sliding along within casing 1. When the pin is released, it will be retained in adjusted position automatically by the action of slider member 5 against case 1.
It will be noted that for adjustment purposes it is not necessary to remove the pin 2% from the holder device, nor is it necessary to loosen or otherwise manipulate the pin relative to the holder member. All that is required is to grasp the pin and urge it along case 1 with sufficient force to overcome the friction between slider member 5 and case 1. Upon releasing such force the pin will automatically be held in its adjusted position.
Accordingly, it will be seen that a curtain tie-back pin holder according to my invention fully accomplishes the aforesaid objects and provides a relatively inexpensive, simple and durable holder device which is susceptible of a highly attractive appearance and which facilitates adjustment of the tie-back pin without marring the window frame. Also, a holder device according to my invention enables the use of a tie-back pin having a smooth shank, whereby if desired tie-backs can be dispensed with and the pin can directly pierce the curtain material. In addition, the form of slider member 5 provides a considerable area of contact with case 1 and aids in maintaining the slider member in proper alignment in case 1.
While I have disclosed and described a preferred embodiment of my invention in considerable detail, my invention is not necessarily limited to the details of such embodiment and I intend that the scope of my invention be determined by the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A curtain tie-back pin holder device comprising, an elongated case adapted for attachment to the frame of a Window and having a slotted Wall portion extending lengthwise thereof, and a slide member carried Within said case for sliding movement lengthwise thereof and having tie-back pin receiving means aligned with said slotted wall portion for receiving and retaining a tie-back pin inserted therethrough, said member being slidable lengthwise of said case bodily with such tie-back pin for selectively adjusting the position of the latter while bearing against said case with sufficient force to retain such pin in ad justed position.
2. A holder for a curtain tie-back pin comprising, elongated case means adapted to be secured to a window frame, means defining a slot extending lengthwise of said case means, resiliently expansible slider means positioned within said case means for sliding movement lengthwise thereof and having an opening therein aligned with said slot for receiving a tie-back pin inserted through said slot, said slider means resiliently expanding upon inserting a tie-back pin through said opening therein to bear against such tie-back pin for retaining the same in said slider means and to bear against said case means for retaining said slider means in adjusted position, the position of said slider means and of the tie-back pin carried thereby being selectively adjustable by moving the same bodily as a unit lengthwise of said case means.
3. An adjustable holder device for a curtain tie-back pin comprising, an elongated case of unitary construction formed with a front wall part having a slot extending the entire length thereof, said case having aligned first openings through opposite side wall parts thereof adjacent the opposite ends thereof, closure members fitted in the opposite ends of said case and having second openings therethrough aligned with said first openings, said first and second openings being adapted to receive fastening devices therethrough for securing said case to a window frame, and a pin-retaining member carried within said case having pin-receiving means aligned with said slot, said pin-retaining member being slidable lengthwise of said case for selective adjustment of the position thereof while being arranged to bear against said case and thereby retain a tie-back pin in adjusted position.
4. In a holder for a curtain tie-back pin, an elongated hollow case adapted for attachment to a window frame, said case having a pin-receiving slot along one side thereof, and a pin-receiving member slidable within said case in the direction of said slot, said member having parts resiliently biased toward each other and a pin-receiving portion between said parts in alignment with said slot, said parts resiliently spreading apart and bearing against the opposite side walls of said case upon inserting a tie-back pin through said slot and into said portion whereby to secure such pin in adjusted position relative to said case while enabling sliding movement of said member within said case to selectively adjust the position of such pin lengthwise of said case.
5. An adjustable holder device for a curtain tie-back pin comprising, an elongated hollow case having a tieback pin receiving slot along one side thereof, and a slider member carried within said case and slidable therein in the direction of said slot for selective position adjustment thereof, said slider member comprising a unitary member formed to provide front and rear portions adapted to bear against the opposite side walls of said case for maintaining said member in adjusted position therein and interconnecting rib portions resiliently biased toward each other, said front portion having an opening therein in alignment with said slot for enabling a tie-back pin in serted through said slot to pass into said front portion and between said rib portions, said rib portions resiliently spreading apart for receiving and retaining a tie-back pin therebetween and for urging said front and rear portions against the opposite side walls of said case.

A curtain tie-back pin holder comprising, an elongated unitary case of open-ended form having a pair of opposed generally fiat side wall parts joined by rounded front and rear wall parts, means defining a slot through said front wall part extending the length of said case, a pair of closure members fitted in the opposite end portions of said case, means defining aligned openings through said side wall parts adjacent the opposite ends of said case, said closure members each having an opening therethrough in alignment with said side wall openings for receiving fastening devices therethrough to secure said case to a window frame, and a resiliently expansible slider member carried within said case for sliding movement lengthwise thereof, said slider member comprising a unitary member formed to provide a generally cylindrical front portion and opposed generally semi-cylindrical rear portions joined by a pair of generally flat rib portions, said front portion having an opening therein in alignment with said slot for receiving a tie-back pin therethrough, means providing a pin-receiving passage between said rib portions in alignment with said front portion opening, the insertion of a tie-back pin into said passage causing said rib portions and said rear generally semi-cylindrical portions to expand with the latter hearing against the inner side wall parts of said case and with the former resiliently bearing against the tie-back pin, said slot enabling movement of said slider member and the tie-back pin bodily as a unit lengthwise of said case for selective position adjusting purposes.
