My invention has relation to music-leaf holders; and it consists in the improved construction and combination of parts of a holder having a bar clamped to the music-rack, upon which spring-clamps adapted to hold the music-leaf slide adjustably, as hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

in the accompanying drawings, the letter A indicates the music-rack, and B the flat bar or plate. The edges 0 of this bar are turned upward and outward, forming flanges or ways upon which the leaf-clamps D slide, and it has a series of longitudinal slots, E, at both ends, through which two screws, G, having square heads F, may be inserted. Upon the outer screw-threaded parts of these screws turn the clamping-disksH,havingcentralscrew-threaded perforations, I. These disks are convex, turning their convex sides outward, and hearing with their inner edges against the rack, and are provided with several larger perforations, J, for the reception of the fingers of the person adjusting them, ofi'ering a place of resistance in turning them. The screws are insertedthrough the slots and in between the scrolls or cross-pieces in the rack at such a place where the disks may be brought to bear upon the rear surface of the rack,and the disks,- being made of elastic or springy metal plates, and having their springinessincreased by their perforations, will hold the bar very firmly upon the rack when screwed down upon it.

The leaf-clamps D consist of bent strips of steel plate or other springy metal plate, the outer free ends, K, of which press against the music-leaf, while their inner ends, L, slide upon bar B. The edges M of'the inner ends are bent downward and inward, adapted to clasp around and slide upon the flanges'fl of the bar, and one of the edges, N, is bent outward again, so as to enable the clamps as well to be sprung over and upon the flanges (l as to he slid in from the ends of bar B. The inner portions of the inner ends, L, are out out to form lips O, which are bent downward, and serve to increase the friction of the clamps upon the bar, the ends of the lips bearing against the depressed part of the bar by their elasticity.

It will thus be seenthat the bar may be .fastened upon any shape of music-rack, and

that the leaf-clamps may he slid upon the bar to suit the width of the music sheet or'book, while they will remain upon the place where they. have been adjusted. by the pressure of the lips 0 upon the deprtssed part of the bar.

Having thus described myinvention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- 1. A'music-clamp consisting of a doubled or bent strip of spring metal, having at one end the downward and inward bent edge M and downward, inward, and outward bent edge N, as shown and set forth.

2. The leaf-clamps D, bent in the shape as described, having at one end the bent edges M and N upon their inner ends, and having lips 0 cut from the body of the same end, between the edges M and N, as and for the purpose shown and set forth. I

3. The combination, in a music-leaf holder, of the bar orrail B, having upward and outward turned edges 0, with the sliding leafclamps D, consisting of doubled or bent strips of springy metal, having the edges M upon one-side of their inner ends bent downward and inward, and the edges N upon the other side bent downward, inward, and again outwatd, and cut in the middle to form lips'O, as and for the purpose shown and set forth.
