(Cl. 2-80) This invention relates to new and useful improvements and structural refinements in infants garments, particularly infants outer garments, and the principal ob ect of the invention is to provide an extremely simple garment of this type which is formed integrally from a singlepiece of material and which may be quickly and easily ad usted to size, so as to compensate for the childs growth.

Some of the advantages of the invention reside in its extreme simplicity of construction, in its efficient and dependable operation and its adaptability to highly economical manufacture.

With the above more important objects and features in view and such other objects and features as may become apparent as this specification proceeds, the invention consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention in readiness for use; and,

Figure 2 is the perspective view thereof in a partly open position.

Like characters of the reference are employed to designate like parts in the specification and throughout the several views.

Referring now to the accompanying drawings in detail, the garment is designated generally by the reference character and is formed integrally from a single blank of material, including what may be called a main body portion 12 which constitutes the back and the bottom of the garment.

A pair of transversely juxtaposed upper front portions 14 are provided integrally at the upper edge of the main body portion 12 and extend downwardly therefrom, it being noted that the main body portion as well as the front portions 14 are provided with complemental recesses which define a neck opening 16 at the top of the garment, as shown.

Moreover, the main body portion 12 as well as the upper front portions 14 are provided with integral, lateral extensions constituting a pair of relatively short, open sleeves 18.

The upper front portions 14 are separated to facilitate donning and removal of the garment, but are separably connected together by suitable fastener elements 20.

The main body portion 12 is also provided integrally at the respective opposite side edges thereof with a pair of side portions or lateral extensions 22 which extend inwardly from the sides of the garment and are superposed on lower regions of the respective top upper portions 14, being separably connected to the latter by coacting fastener elements 24. In addition, the side portions 22 are separably attached to each other by an additional fastener element unit 26.

Finally, the main body portion 12 is provided at the lower edge thereof with an integral portion, namely, the lower front portion 28 which extends upwardly in overlapping relation on the side portions 22 and on the front upper portions 14. The portion 28 is separably attached "ice to the portions 14 by fastener elements 30 and is also separably attached to the respective side portions 22 by the fastener elements 32.

It will be observed that the main body portion 12 and the lower front portion 28 are provided with complemental recesses 34 which define a pair of leg openings 36, as shown.

By forming the entire garment from a single piece of material, the construction is extremely simple. What is more important, by simply rearranging the location of the various fastener elements, the garment becomes readily adjustable so as to compensate for the growth of the child.

If desired, the material from which the garment is made may be rubberized, rubber-lined or otherwise waterproofed.

It is believed that the advantages and use of the invention will be clearly understood from the foregoing disclosure and accordingly, further description thereof at this point is deemed unnecessary.

While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention is claimed.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

An integrally formed infants garment comprising a main body portion of unitary construction having top and side edges and constituting the back of the garment, a pair of upper front portions extending from the top and side edges of the upper portion of the main body portion, said front portions terminating in generally parallel free edges and extending inwardly a distance for overlapping said free edges, means detachably securing the free edges of the upper front portions in overlapping relation thereby forming a jacket, said front portions having elongated horizontally disposed lower edges, said upper front portions and body portion being formed with complemental recesses forming neck and arm openings to facilitate donning of the garment, each lower side edge of said main body portion having lateral extensions, said extensions being of a length to encircle the lower portion of the torso of the wearer and each extension having an elongated horizontally disposed upper edge overlapping the lower edges of the upper front portions, said lateral extensions having free edges disposed in upwardly converging relation and forming an acute angled corner at the intersection with the upper horizontal edges thereof, said corners being disposed in overlapping relation, means for detachably connecting the upper edges of the lateral extensions in overlapping relation to the lower edges of the respective upper front portions, each of said lateral extensions having a generally horizontally disposed lower edge forming a lower angled corner at the intersection with the free edge of the lateral extension, an elongated flat depending from the main body portion and constituting a lower front portion extending upwardly therefrom for forming a crotch in the garment, said elongated flap terminating in an upper edge and being of a length to extend above the lower edges of the upper front portions and the upper edges of the lateral extensions, said elongated flap having its greatest width at it lower end and its smallest width at its upper edge, and being of a size to overlap the free edges of the lateral extensions, means detachably connecting the upper edge of the elongated flap to the upper front portions, said elongated flap having upwardly converging side edges intersecting the upper edge and lower end thereof for forming corners for overlapping the converging edges of said lateral extensions, means detachably connecting the lower corner of the elongated flap in overlapping relation to the lower end 3 of the converging edges of the lateral extensions, said main body portion being recessed between the lateral extensions and the flap to form with the lower end of the flap and the lower edges of the lateral extensions leg openings.
