Definitions

  • This invention relates in general to dispensing apparatus and more particularly to improvements in devices for dispensing material from a container in response to gas therein under pressure.
  • Figure l is a sectional view of the bottle embodying my invention.
  • Figure 2 is a sectional View of a modified form of my invention.
  • a bottle which is illustrated as being of glass, contains the fluid 2, in this case perfume, to be dispensed.
  • the neck 3 of the bottle has a threaded portion 4 engaged with a cap 5.
  • the cap 5 of the bottle is recessed at 6 to support a washer I for a purpose hereinafter described.
  • a discharge nozzle 8 extends laterally from a central opening 9 in the cap 5 and is in communication with depending tube It extending toward the bottom of the bottle I.
  • a gas reservoir supporting member I I is seated on the top of the neck 3 of the bottle I supported on a circular flanged portion I 2.
  • the cap 5 is tightly screwed in place to rigidly hold the reservoir supporting member II in position.
  • This gas reservoir supporting member II extends downwardly and is provided with a threaded portion I 3 at its lower end.
  • the gas containing reservoir I Il is threadingly engaged on portion l?. and contains the dispensing gas I5 therein.
  • a passage I6 inthe reservoir supporting member II establishes communication between the chamber formed by II and the dispensing gas reservoir i4, and provides a valve seat for dispensing valve I1, seated within the chamber formed by gas reservoir supporting member I I and biased upwardly in a manner hereinafter described against the cap 5 ⁇ .
  • Valve I1 is reduced at either end to form valve portions and at one end is extended to form a stem I8, terminating in a dispensing button I9 on the opposite side of the washer 1.
  • Valve II is also formed with a spring seating ring 2U along its body.
  • surrounds valve I'I nd is seated at one end against ring 20 and at its other end on the lower portion 22 of the chamber II. The valve spring 2I biases valve II upwardly so that escape from the chamber II is normally prevented.
  • the dispensing gas I5, such as aerosoL contained in chamber reservoir I4 is partially vaporized to fill the volume or chamber formed by reservoir supporting member II. Escape of this gas from this chamber, however, is prevented since valve II is biased upwardly by action of spring 2I to close passage 9.
  • button I9 When the operator desires to dispense some of the contained fluid 2, he depresses button I9 to move valve I'I downwardly opening the passage 9 and at the same time closing the passage It. This allows the gas in the chamber formed by reservoir supporting member II to escape through passage 9 past nozzle In doing so, the gas sucks up some of the nuid 2 from the container I, atomizes it and discharges it into the atmosphere through nozzle 8. It will be recognized that the flow of gas under pressure through discharge nozzle or dispensing passage 8 lowers the atmospheric pressure above the open upper end of tube Il) and creates a suction therein.
  • a bottle Ia containing perfume 2a is formed with a neck 3a having a threaded portion 4a is threadingly engaged with a cap 5a.
  • the cap 5a is recessed at 6a and provided with a washer 1a.
  • a nozzle ila is formed in the cap 5a in communication with chamber 9a and in communication with tube Illa extending downwardly into the perfume reservoir.
  • Gas reservoir supporting member lla is formed with a nange portion
  • Chamber Ha extends downwardly and is formed with a threaded portion i3d at its lower end to which is attached gas reservoir la containing the dispensing gas ia.
  • the chamber lia is in communication with the gas reservoir Ida by virtue of the passage Ia- A valve (1a is seated against the cap 5a under spring action.
  • the valve l'a is formed with an extension lila terminating in a button lila.
  • Valve biasing spring 2in'l bears against the cap ld and the washer la to force the valve lla upwardly normally closing passage 9a.
