WENZEL R.- ANSORGE, OF TEXARKANA, ARKANSAS.-
BUNG FOR BEER-BARRELS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 265,360, dated October '3, 1882.
l I Application led August 21, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WENZEL R. ANSORGE, of Texarkana, in the county of Miller and State of Arkansas, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Bungs for Beer-Barrels, 85e., of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the acconn'ianying drawings, forming part of this specification, in Which- Figure 1 is a top view of the bung and the .ring Within which it tits. Fig. 2 is atop view ofthe bung removed from the ring. Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the bung and ring on lin-e 3.3, Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a side elevation ofthe bung alone, and Fig. 5 is a vertical section of the ring alone. Fig. 6 is a side elevation ofthe bung, showing the clamping-piece in end View, while in Fig. 4 it is shown in side View.
My invention relates to a bung which will be perfectly tightly while in use, and which can be easily removed and replaced; and my invention consists in the hereinafter described and claimed construction and arrangement of parts.
A represents a metallic ring, externally screw-threaded, so that it can be trmly secured into the bung-hole of a barrel, with inwardprojecting lugs vB at top. The under faces of the lugs are inclined, as shown in Fig. 5.
O is a clamp, preferably having a convex bottom resting upon a disk, D, beneath which is a rubber or other suitable Washer, E, which is held in place by a plate, F. These parts are allsecured together by a connecting bolt or rivet, Gr. The plate F is of the proper size to fit within thebottom ot' the ring, and the Washer is of sufficient size to rest upon an in; turned iiange, A', of the bottom of the ring. (See Fig.) The clamp C has side projections, C', which are preferably inclined, as shown. and which t beneath the inclined lugs B ot the ring A, and by turning the clamp it will be seen that any-desired pressure may be had to insure a tight tbetween theleather washer and the bot-tom of the ring, and by turning the clampin theotberdirectionits ends are brought out from beneath the lugs B and the bung can be removed. l represent projections extending up from the top ofthe clamp, by which it can be turned by means of a suitable key.
I claim as my invention- 1n combination with the ring A, having inturned tlange A at bottom and inclined iu- Ward-projecting lugs B at top, the bung consis-ting of clamp C, with side projections, C',
