With the above and other objects in view, my invention resides in the novel features of form, construction, arrangement, and combination of parts presently described and pointed out in the claims.

My furthermore, may be easily swung about the swivel-stud I 0 as an axis from the so-called down or operative position shown in full lines in Figure 1 to the position shown in dotted lines therein. Inasmuch as the exposed central section 8 of the strip l is in direct contact with the stamping l I, this swivelling action is smooth, eflicient, and at the same time is rugged and durable.

It should be understood that changes and modifications in the form, construction, arrangement, and combination of the several parts of the ear-muff cap may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the nature and principle of my invention.

Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A cap comprising a crown, a lining, a head band disposed between the crown and the lining, said crown, lining and head band being secured together in the form of a unitary assembly and defining the lower edge of said cap, said crown being provided on each side above the region of the ears of the wearer when the cap is being worn with pairs of spaced parallel slits perpendicular to said edge, a relatively short strip of stifi material rigidly secured adjacent one of its ends to the head band on each side of the cap so as to be positioned above the ears of the wearer when the cap is being worn and passing outward- 1y through one of said slits and back inwardly through the other slit of each of said pairs so that a short portion of each of said strips is exposed, and swivel means swingably secured to the said exposed portions of each of said short strips for supporting ear muffs.

2. A cap comprising a crown. a lining, a head band disposed between the crown and the lining, said crown, lining, and head band being secured together in the formation of a unitary assembly and defining the lower edge of said cap, said crown being provided on each side above the region of the ears of the wearer when the cap is being worn with pairs of spaced parallel slits perpendicular to said edge, a relatively short strip of stiff material rigidly secured adjacent one of its ends to the head band on each side of the cap so as to be positioned above the ears of the wearer when the cap is being worn and passing outwardly through one of said slits and back inwardly through the other slit of each of said pairs so that a short portion of each of said strips is exposed, swivel means swingably secured to the said exposed portions of each of said short strips. and ear mufis swingably secured to the swivel means.

3. A cap comprising a crown, a lining, a head band disposed between the crown and the lining,

said crown, lining, and head band being secured together in the formation of a unitary assembly and defining the lower edge of said cap, said crown being provided on each side above the region of the ears of the wearer when the cap is being worn with pairs of spaced parallel slits substantially perpendicular to said edge, a relatively short strip of springy strip-metal rigidly secured adjacent one of its ends to the head band on each side of the cap so as to be positioned above the ears of the wearer when the cap is being worn and passing outwardly through one of said slits and back inwardly through the other slit of each of said pairs so that a short portion of each of said short strips is exposed,

swivel means swingably secured to each of said exposed portions of said short strips, and ear muffs swingably connected to the swivel means. 4. A cap comprising a crown, a lining, a head band disposed between the crown and the lining, said crown, lining, and head band being secured together in the formation of a unitary assembly and defining the lower edge of said cap, said crown being provided on each side above the region of the ears of the wearer when the cap is being worn with pairs of spaced parallel slits substantially perpendicular to said edge, a relatively short strip of springy strip-metal rigidly secured adjacent one of its ends to the head band on each side of the cap so as to be positioned above the ears of the wearer when the cap is being worn and passing outwardly through one of said slots and back inwardly through the other slit of each of said pairs so that a short portion of said strip-metal is exposed, a swivel stud mounted in the exposed portion of each of said short strips and projecting perpendicularly outwardly from the exposed face thereof, a swivel-. forming member rotatably mounted upon each of said studs for swinging movement about the axis of said stud and extending radially outwardly therefrom, and an ear mufi rockably mounted on the outer end of each of said swivel-forming members for rotation about an axis substantially at right angles to the axisof the stud. 5. A cap comprising a crown, a flat strip positioned circumferentially in the interior of and adjacent the lower edge of the crown, said strip being secured to the crown and traversing the sides of the cap, said crown being provided on each side, above the region of the ears of the wearer when the cap is being worn, with a pair of spaced parallel slits perpendicular to and adjacent its lower edge, a strip of still material positioned circumferentially between the lower edge of the crown and said flat strip at each side of the cap and secured adjacent one of its ends to the crown, each of said strips of stiif material passing outwardly through one of said slits and back inwardly through the other slit of its respective pair of slits so that a short portion of each of said strips of stiff material is exposed, and swivel means swingably secured to the said exposed portions for supporting ear muffs.
