The present invention relates to a frame for securing display-window panes in which frame a grooved spring strip or sections of such a strip are provided for the purpose of clamping and holding at least one frame cover strip. In known constructions of this type the spring strip is screwed to the supporting frame, and the cover frame, which is provided with a tongue, is clamped between the spring strip and the supporting frame. In the constructions in which the window frame is cemented in, the entire cavity of the cover frame or cover frames has to be lled with cement, this representing not only a troublesome piece of work but also an unnecessary consumption of cement, quite apart from the fact that in spite of the comparatively large quantity of cement used there is no guarantee that the cavity is completely lled and that the glass pane actually is rmly embedded in the cement.
Those constructions which are intended to permit of the securing of the glass pane without the use of cement and in which a cover frame is provided on one side only exhibitthe drawback that the spring strip must be screwed to the supporting frame at `an exact distance from the supporting frame, said distance corresponding to the thickness of the glass pane, and this renders difficult the performing of any preliminary work on the supporting frame strips on a repetition basis.
The purpose of the present invention is to overcome these drawbracks by suitable shaping of the spring strip and the cover strips or of the means of securing the spring strip. The invention consists in the fact that the spring strip possesses, in addition to the groove serving for the securing of a cover strip, a number of parallel grooves which so correspond to grooves of a rail serving for the clamping of said spring strip to the supporting frame that said grooves may be laterally displaced in relation to each other by at least the distance between two adjacent grooves, and also in the fact that the cover strips used are provided with tongues which limit the cement cavity to minimum cement requirements and prevent access of the cement to the spring strip. A rail of rectangular cross-section may be used as the grooved rail for clamping the spring strip to the supporting frame. A cover strip may also, however, be provided with grooves and serve to clamp the spring strip to the supporting frame.

In Figs. 1 and 2, spring strips 2 and 3 respectively, provided with a groove 4, is secured by screws 5 to the supporting frame I. Instead of a continuous strip, it is also possible to screw sections only of such a strip on to the supporting frame. The two cover channels 6 and 1 and the cover channel 8 (Fig. 2) are clamped under the spring strips 2 and 3 respectively. In order to secure the glass pane S, the entire cavity of the cover channel must be lled with cement. The spring strip 9 (Fig. 3) in accordance with the invention is provided both with the groove Ill for securing the cover strip I2 and with grooves I3 which correspond to grooves I4 in the cover strip I5. Together with the cover strip I5, the spring strip 9 is screwed by means of screws I1 to the supporting frame I 5, so that not only the spring strip but also the cover strip is rigidly secured to the supporting frame I6, so that they cannot be knocked loose in windows and doors. The tongue I2a of the cover strip I2 is-inserted and clamped below the groove I0 of the spring strip. If a greater distance proves necessary between the two cover strips or rails I5 and I2, either through widening of the aperture for the glass pane on account of an increase in the thickness of the glass pane I8 or because of the supporting frame I6 being covered with light-alloy sheets 26, the spring strip 9 may be displaced by the distance between two adjacent grooves, as shown in Fig. 4. The two cover strips I2 and I 5 are provided with overlapping tongues I9 and 20 which, even when the distance between the cover strips is increased, still seal oir the cement cavity from the adjacent cavity of the rail I2 and prevent cement from coming into contact with the sheet steel springs, thus preventing any corrosion of the latter by the cement.
Fig. 5 illustrates a further embodiment. The spring strip ZI is screwed with a grooved strip I2b to the supporting frame 22 and the tongue 23 of the two-sided cover frame 24 is clamped below the projecting part of the edge. Said cover frame I 4a is provided with ledges 25 which seal ofi the cement cavity from the hollow cavity of the cover frame. By means of springs 21 slipped on to the binding piece 25a, the strength of the connection between the cover frame 24l and the supporting frame 22 may be increased.
Fig. 6 shows the same embodiment with a onesided cover frame.
I claim:
1. A frame for securing display window panes, comprising in combination with a supporting frame and hollow cover strip means engaging said supporting frame; a spring strip connected with said supporting frame and comprising one portion having a plurality of parallel ridges and grooves formed therein, another portion having a tongue, and an intermediate portion located between the two rst-mentioned portions, said cover strip means comprising a portion having a plurality of parallel grooves and ridges in engagement with the ridges and grooves of the rstmentioned spring strip portion, another portion having a tongue extending under the tongue of the second-mentioned spring strip portion and an inner member separating the interior of said hollow cover strip means into two chambers, one of said chambers being adapted to be lled with cement, theother one of said chambers containing aportion of said spring clip.
2. A frame forsecuring display window panes, comprising in combination with a supporting frame and two hollow cover strips engaging said supporting frame; a spring strip comprising one portion having a plurality of parallel ridges and grooves formed therein, another portion lhaving a tongue, and an intermediate portion located between the two first-mentioned portions and rmly connected to said supporting frame, one of said cover strips comprising a portion having a plurality or parallel grooves and ridges in engagement with the ridges and grooves of the rlrst mentioned spring strip portion, the other cover strip having a tongue extending under the tongue of the second-mentioned'spring strip portion, said two cover strips enclosing a hollow interior and having cooperatingY tongues separating said interior into two chambers, one of said chambers 4 being adapted to be filled with cement. the other one of said chambers containing a portion of said spring clip.
3. A frame for securing display window panes, comprising in combination with a supporting frame and hollow cover strip means engaging said supporting frame; a spring strip connected with said supporting frame and comprising one portion having a plurality of parallel ridges and grooves formed therein, another portion having a tongue, and an intermediate portion located between the two rst-mentioned portions, said cover strip means comprising a rail having a plurality of parallel grooves and ridges in engagement with the ridges and grooves of the firstmentioned spring strip portion, and a cover strip having a, tongue extending under the tongue of the second-mentioned spring strip portion, and another tongue separating the interior of said hollow cover strip means into two chambers, one of said chambers being adapted to be filled with cement, the other one of said chambers containing a portion of said spring clip.
