This invention relates to promoting convenience of access to groupings of data.

This invention has utility when incorporated in listings, such as names, addresses, and the like. An embodiment disclosed is of a replaceable roll, carrying thereon the data, which roll is removably mountable in a bracket device adapted to be assembled with a telephone, or deposited on a desk or support, the device having a window to expose a limited region of the roll-carried listing.

The assembly herein illustrated has to do with telephone base I having a dial 2 and a hand set 3.

The device frame is of sheet stock of general U-form with a front 4 and parallel legs 5, 6. Adjacent the front 4, the leg 5 has a bearing opening 1. The leg 6 has a slot 8. Parallel to the front 4, a shaft in the openings or bearings 1, 8 carries a roll 9.

From one end of the roll 9, a portion I of the shaft for the roll extends into the bearing 7. The other way from the roll is a portion II of the shaft, which as beyond the slot 8 is to a knob I2. Upon the face of the roll 9 may be assembled a listing I3.

More remote from the front 4 than the bearing openings I, 8, for the roll 9, are aligned openings I4 in the legs 5, 6 for rivets I forming a hinge at ears I6 of a lid I'I, forming a cover for the roll and carrying an advertisement 28. In its closed position, a window I8 in the lid I! is in register with a line or notation on the listing I3 carried by the roll 9. Operation of the knob I2 changes the listing exposed at the window I8.

For range of use as away from a telephone base, say as for resting on a desk, the U-frame may have leg portions I9 (Fig. 8) with seats 20 for a writing implement, as pen or pencil.

In assembling the device on a telephone base, cushion or rubber pads or facings 2| may be on the inner sides of the legs 5, 6 (Fig. 3).

A telephone base I usually has pads 22 to avoid surface mar. The U-frame legs 5, 6, astride the base I, may have a spring clamp 23 to act in frictionally assembling the device with the base, as the clamp ends 24 are snapped into position, between embossings 25. In lieu of the wire spring 23, 24, for the clamp, a strap spring 28, with ends 21, may be used.

What is claimed and it is desired to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A telephone list item comprising a U-frame forming a front with a pair of parallel legs therefrom, aligned roll bearings in the legs spaced from the front, a roll between the legs mounted in the bearings and having a control knob outward from one of the legs, there being pivot bearings aligned between the legs and more remote from the front than the roll bearings, a lid swingably mounted in the pivot hearings to cover the roll, said roll being adapted to carry telephone call identity data, said lid having a window in register with roll data as adjusted by the knob, said legs being outwardly yieldable to span astride a telephone cradle base with clearance away from a support for the base, and a spring clamp in said clearance and extending transversely to embrace the legs to grip the base in detachably anchoring the item assembled with the cradle'with the window thereby held spaced radially of the roll from the base.

A list mounting comprising a sheet stock frame on-edge configured to a U-form with parallel legs connected by a front section, said legs providing a pair of bearings similarly spaced from the section, a roll extending between the legs and mounted in the bearings, the lower edge of the section and legs lying in a plane perpendicular to the riser direction for the section, the top edge of the section having adjacent portions of the top edges of the legs inclined upwardly, and a lid hinged to the legs to close in resting on the section, said lid having a window opening in register with the top portion of the roll, upon which roll there may be carried a notation list for exposure selection to be determined by rotation of the roll.
