1 Claim.

This invention relates to a lingerie strap holder for holding the shoulder straps of womens garments.

An object of this invention is to provide a simple and eflicient shoulder strap holder in the form of a small clip which can be readily attached to the shoulder portions of womens outer garments, such as waists, and used to prevent shoulder straps of undergarments from slipping down on the shoulders.

Another object of the invention is to provide a lingerie strap holder in the form of a clip which is small in size, compact in construction, neat in appearance and which will lie close to the shoulder of the user when in use and is easy to attach to and detach from the shoulder portion of an outer garment, such as a waist.

Another object is to provide a lingerie strap holder in the form of a small clip which can be depended on to hold the shoulder straps of under garments and not to release said shoulder straps accidentally and, at the same time, to provide a shoulder strap holder with which shoulder straps can be quickly and easily engaged and from which they can be quickly and easily disengaged manually by the user.

Another object is to provide a lingerie shoulder strap holder in the form of a clip made from a single piece of wire bent double and shaped to provide a garment engaging loop and a, shoulder strap receiving loop, the shoulder strap receiving loop being formed of two curved wire parts disposed one within the other in reinforcing engagement with each other and in a common plane which coincides with the plane of the garment engaging loop, the said loops being formed without crossing the wire.

Another object is to provide a lingerie shoulder strap holder in which a strap receiving loop portion thereof can be made of plastic material and a garment engaging clip of wire can be made a permanent part of said plastic strap receiving loop.

Other objects of the invention will be apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.

In the drawings-- Figure l is an elevation, on an enlarged scale, of a preferred form of lingerie strap holder constructed in accordance with this invention.

Fig. 2 is a somewhat diagrammatic front view, with parts broken away and on a smaller scale than Fig. 1, illustrating the manner of using this invention.

Fig. 3 is an elevation, on an enlarged scale, of a modified form of this lingerie strap holder.

The lingerie shouldr strap holder shown in Fig. 1 is formed by a single piece of fairly Stiff but resilient wire of small diameter bent double and shaped to provide a garment engaging loop 5 and a shoulder strap receiving loop 6. The garment engaging loop 5 serves as a hanger or anchor loop for the holder. This loop 5 has an end 1, herein referred to as a bight portion because this end part I is formed at the location where the wire is doubled. The two parts of the wire are spaced apart for a substantial distance outwardly from the bight portion 1 and these two spaced apart portions form two sides of the garment engaging loop 5. This loop 5 is of substantial length to prevent turning over or twisting'of the holder. The top or outermost member of the loop 5 is in the form of a straight bar 8 which is adapted to be engaged within a seam portion 9 of an outer garment I 0, Fig. 2, when the holder clip is in use, and because said bar 8 is relatively long it will resist turning or twisting of the clip.

The two wire parts which form the loop 5 converge together at the end M of said loop opposite to the bight portion 7 and for the remainder of their length the two parts of the wire are substantially in engagement with each other and reinforce each other and said two wires are bent to form the strap receiving loop 6 The ends of the wire parts which form the strap receiving loop 6 are positioned close to the bight end I of the garment engaging loop 5 but are spaced therefrom to leave an opening ll through which shoulder straps can be passed into and out of said loop 5.

The end portion of the innermost wire of the strap receiving loop 6 is bent inwardly to form a strap retaining member l2 of substantial size which extends toward the center of the loop 6 and which helps to prevent accidental displacement of the shoulder straps from the loop 6.

The end of the outermost wire of the strap receiving loop 6 has a sharp point [3 which preferably lies against the innermost wire to minimize the danger of injury to the hands but which can be sprung outwardly to insert it into the cloth of an outer garment.

Obviously changes in this clip can be made within the scope and spirit of the following claim.

A lingerie shoulder strap holder comprising a wire-like member bent substantially double and 1 having two parts thereof adjacent the bight por- "wire-like.member'outwardly from said garment engaging loop converging into reinforcing engagement with each other with one part thereof inside of the other part and extending in a curve away from said garment engaging loop' and thence back'toward said garment engaging loop to thereby provide a tWo part strap receiving loop in which the two parts thereof have their ends positioned adjacent to but spaced a short distance from the bight end portion'of said garment engaging loop to leave an opening through which shoulder straps can be passed into and out' of said strap receiving loop, the end of the outermost wire-like part of said strap receiving. loop being; pointed whereby it can be deflected away from the adjacent wire-like part and inserted through'the cloth of an-outer garment and the shoulder-strap holder rotatively moved relative to theportion of cloth engaged by the outermost wire likerpart to connect, the garment'engag-ing loop with the outer garment; and an inwardly extending strap retaining member provided on thewend of the innermost wire-like part of said strap retaining loop.
