Claims. 1

My herein disclosed invention is a soap cake supporting device and its object is to provide means for suspending a bar of soap in any place or position desired.

A principal object of this invention is to provide means whereby soap may be conserved and kept dry when not being used.

, A further object of the invention is to provide means whereby a cake of soap may not escape its user and slide across a floor of linoleum, wood or the like, as often happens when scrubbing the floor which causes additional and uncalled for labor on the part of the user in raising from the knees and chasing after the same, or dropping from a lavatory and sliding under a tub, or the like.

Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:

In the accompanying drawings as above enumerated and in the following specification, like characters of reference indicate like parts throughout and in which I0, is a view illustrating one application of my invention and II, illustrates another application thereof. In the form of which II], is the illustration, there is provided two anchor supporting devices I2 and I3, suitably spaced apart and as both of these supports or brackets are exact counterparts of one another, it will be necessary to describe only the member I2, in detaail. This support I2, consists of a rubber or the like frusto-conical suction cup I4, over which is secured a larger frusto-conical cap I5, held thereto with its inside end wall against the small end of cup I4 but spaced at the peripheral conical portion to allow flexing and gripping action of the suction cup I4 by means of a screw I6 having its head anchored in the end wall of cup I4 when molded and projecting therefrom, to the outer end of which is secured a bracket member I'I having a tapered body with a threaded socket in which the projecting end of screw I6 is engaged, having a central projecting shank or arm I8, provided on one side with a series of teeth I9, between any two of which may be held the head portion 20, of the enlargement 2|, of an anchor strip or shank 22, which anchor is provided with a longitudinal series of spaced outwardly projecting struck out teeth 23. The member 2|, is also provided with inwardly extending tapered teeth 24 and 25 spaced on opposite sides of strip 22. The anchor device 26, is adapted to be projected into a cake of soap 21 at toothed strip or shank 22 and teeth 24 and 25 to prevent displacement as well as twisting or turning of the cake, as clearly indicated in Figure 1 of the drawings, and the member 2|, thereof is adapted to be suspended from the projection I8, whereby the cake of soap 21, will be held from contact with any moisture. A cross stop 28, is provided on the reduced end 29, of the member I! to engage the enlargement 2| when engaged over the notched shank or arm I8, for limiting the movement of said cake of soap. It will be noted that the opening 30, in the member 2|, is substantially triangular and the apex 3|, engages the member I8,and the

32 and 33, engage the side walls of said member I8, whereby swinging motion of the cake of soap is obviated.

It will be noted that the cup I4 projects from cap I5 and may be secured to any flat surface, such as a tile wall 34, at. any convenient place over a wash basin to support or suspend the cake 2! from a single supporting device or holder as seen in Figure 2, whereby the soap will always be handy and will not disintegrate through setting in water in a soap dish or upon a wet surface. It will also be noticed that the soap may be suspended from a pair of members such as I2 and I3 as seen in Figure l, in case it should be desired to secure the said members I2 and I3, upon a horizontal or vertical surface.

My soap anchor is so designed as to be inserted in the soap by the manufacturer when said soap is being moulded into cake form ready for subsequent use. Then too, it gives individuality in selection of more than one kind of soap by using two or more soap holders.

It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.

Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.

Having now described my invention that which I claim as new and desire to procure by Letters Patent is:

1. A device as described, consisting of a bracket. a soap anchoring member removably connected thereto, said bracket including a rack bar having teeth for adjustable connection with the anchor, means for suspending the bracket, a conical suction cup forming said means, an enclosure member for the cup, a large headed screw the head of which is embedded in the apex of the cup and which connects the enclosure member and bracket to the cup, said anchoring member having a tooth engaging element, and a toothed extension for embedment into a cake of soap.

2. A device as described, consisting of a bracket, a soap anchoring member removably connected thereto, said bracket including a rack bar having teeth for adjustable connection with the anchor, means for suspending the bracket, a conical suction cup forming said means, an enclosure member for the cup, a large headed screw the head of which is embedded in the apex of the cup and which connects the enclosure member and bracket to the cup, and said anchoring member having a tooth engaging element.

A device as described, consisting of a bracket, a soap anchoring member removably connected thereto, said bracket including a rack bar having teeth for adjustable connection with the anchor, means for suspending the bracket, a conical suction cup forming said means, an enclosurememher for the cup, and a large headed screw the head of which is embedded in the apex of the cup and which connects the enclosure membe and bracket to the cup.

A device as described consisting of a bracket, a soap anchoring member removably connected thereto, said bracket including a rack bar having teeth for adjustable connection with the anchor, said anchor having a loop for engagement with the teeth of the rack bar, means for suspending the bracket, a conical suction cup forming said means, and an enclosure member of rigid material for the cup and attached to the apex thereof and from which the lip of the cup projects.

A soap holder comprising a conical suction cup, a threaded shank anchored at the apex of the cup and projecting therefrom, a conical rigid closure partially covering the cup and mounted on the shank, a bracket threaded on the shank and having a projecting arm provided on one side with a series of teeth, and an anchor adapted to engage and be retained in a bar of soap and provided with a headhaving a tapered opening with the tapered end thereof adjustably engaged over the teeth or" the arm.

6. A soap holder comprising a bracket, a soapanchoring member removably connected thereto,

said bracket including a body having a central open end of the cup projects, means for securing the enclosure to the apex portion of the cup at the outside and detachably connecting the body of the bracket thereto against the attaching portion of the enclosure, said anchoring member comprising a toothed strip having an enlargement rigid with one end provided with an outwardly tapered opening to engage over the toothed shank in binding engagement between the teeth thereof, said toothed strip adapted to be embedded in one end of a cake of soap.

'7. A soap holder comprising a bracket, a soapanchoring member removably connected thereto, said bracket including a body having a central toothed shank for adjustable engagement of the anchor thereover, a conical suction cup for suspending the bracket, a rigid conical enclosure for and spaced over the cup and from which the open end of the cup projects, means for securing the enclosure to the apex portion of the cup at the outside and detachably connecting the body of the bracket thereto against the attaching portion of the enclosure, said anchoring member 4v comprising a toothed strip having an enlargement rigid with one end provided with an outwardly tapered v opening to engage over the toothed shank in binding engagement between :the teeth thereof, said toothed strip adapted to be embedded in one end of a cake or" soap, and a cross stop on the body projecting from diametrically opposite sides thereof to limit the movement of the anchor over the toothed shank and engage the end of the cake of soap for limiting the movement of said cake of soap.

' 8. A'soap holder consisting of a bracket, a soap-anchoring member removably connected thereto, said bracket including a tapered conical body having acentral notched shank, a conical suction cup' for suspending the bracket, anenclosure member for and spaced over the cup and from which the open end of the cup projects, a screw having an enlargedhead anchored in the apex portion of" the cup centrally and projecting therefrom at the back, said enclosure member having a thickened apex Wall with a bore receiving said screw therethrough and projecting therefrom, said body having a threaded socket for engagement bythe screw to detachably secure the body to the enclosure and against the apex portion thereof, said anchoring member having a toothed extension for embedment in a cake of soap and means on opposite sides thereof for engaging in the end of the cake of soap to prevent turning or twisting of the cake.

9. A soap holder comprising a bracket adapted for attachment to a supporting surface and having a projecting toothed bar rigid therewith, and a strip member adapted to be anchored at one end in one end of a cake of soa and provided on its other end with an integral head having an opening which is adapted to removably receive the toothed bar and which tapers toward the free end of the head so thatmovement of said strip member in opposite directions transversely of the toothed barwill respectively cause engagement of the head with and disengagement of the same from the teethof said bar.
