SOAP-SAVING DEVICE.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that 1, JAMES 'I. MOLTRUP, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Beaver Falls, in the county of Beaver and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Soap- Saving Devices, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in soap-saving devices, and has for one object the provision of novel means to retain a cake of soap out of the water when not in use and admit of it being conveniently used when desired.

Another object of the invention is to design a device of the above-described character that will be ornamental, simple in its construction, strong,durable, and highlyefficient in its operation.

The invention further aims to provide a soap-saving device that will retain the soap and prevent the same being displaced or lost.

The invention finally consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claims.

In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, wherein like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in Which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of my improved soap-saving device applied in position to a washstand and illustrating in dotted lines the position of the soap when in use. Fig. 2 is a perspective View of my improved soap-saving device detached from the washstand. Fig. 3 is a verticalsectional view of the lower portion of my improved device.

Referring to the drawings by referencenumerals, 1 indicates a standard carrying on its upper end a fork 2, the prongs of said fork being provided with a serrated face 3 for the reception of a cake of soap 4:. Upbn this standard is also mounted a drip-tray 5, the lower end of said standard being apertured, as at 6, for the reception of a bolt 7, carrying a nut 8, serving as fastening means and form in g a hinge connection between said standard and the bifurcated ends 9 of the collar 10,

said collar 10 being provided with a screw 11, extending through said collar and operating in an annular groove 12, formed upon a boss 13, which is secured in any suitable manner to a washstand 14., that acts as the support for the standard. I

The operation of my improved device is as follows: We will assume that the apparatus is placed in position upon a washstand, the forked end of the standard being forced into the cake of soap, which will be retained upon said forked end by reason of the serrated face of the prongs. WVhen it is desired to use the same, the standard is lowered, as shown in dotted lines of Fig. 1 of the drawings, and the soap submerged in the Water. When in this position, the device may be turned to any angle or degree, as desired. When the soap has been used, the device is returned again to its normal position and the drip-tray will receive the drippings from the soap.

It will be readily seen that by the use of my improved device soap may be used in a more economical manner than heretofore.

It will be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of my my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In a soap-saving device, the combination, with a washstand, of a standard hinged to said stand and provided with a forked end, and a drip-tray secured upon said standard, as and for the purpose described.

2. In a soap-saving device, the combination, with a support, of a standard hinged to said" support and provided with a serrated forked end, a drip-tray mounted upon said standard, and a swiveled connection between the support and standard to permit the rotation of the latter, substantially as described.

3. The combination, with a support, of a standard hingedto said support and provided with a forked serrated end adapted to receive and hold the soap, and a drip-tray mounted upon the standard between the forked end and hinged connection with the support to receive the drippings from the soap when the standard is in a vertical position, snbstan tially as described.

4-. In a device of the character described, the combination with a support, of a standard rotatably connected thereto, means carried by the free end of said standard for holding a cake of soap, and means mounted upon said standard to receive the drippings from the soap When the standard is in a vertical position, substantially as described.

5. In a soap-saving, device, the combination, with a support, of a standard adapted to hold the soap and rotatably connected to the support, and means mounted upon the standard to receive the drippings from the soap when the standard is in a vertical position, substantially as described.

6. In a soap-saving device, the combination with a suitable support, of a rotatable collar-mounted upon said support,and a soapholding device hinged to said collar.

7. In a soap-saving device, the combination with a suitable support, of a rotatable collar suitably mounted upon the said support, a standard hinged to said collar, and a serrated fork formed integral with the said standard and adapted to hold a cake of soap.

8. In a soap-saving device, the combination with a suitable support, of a standard adapted to be mounted thereon, a soap-holding devi'ce formed integral with the upper end of said standard, and a swivel connection mounted upon said support and hingedly connected to the lower end of said standard to permit of the rotation and inclination of the same.
