The `present inventionrelates to' key holder, tag and container and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts herein described and claimed.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a key holder-havinga body formed of a singlepiece ofmaterial `and providing novel means for attaching an identification ta'g or` the like thereto and which is adapted to contain a key therein when the same is not in use.
A further object of the invention is the provision in a device-of thecharacter set forth` of novel rneansiorlatchingr a key therein;
A furthero-bject-of the invention is to the provision `of several novel means for attaching the holder to a-keychainor the like.
A further objectof the invention is thee-provision of a keycontainer which isv adapted to protectthe clothing of the user from the rough edges of `a key contained therein.-
Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of the character set forth above which is extremely simple in its construction and operation and yet which is effective and eiiicient in use.
Other and further objects of the invention will become apparent from a reading of the following specification taken in conjunction with the drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevational View of an embodiment of the invention,
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of Figure 1,
Figure 3 is a rear elevational view of the device shown in Figure 2,
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken along line 4-4 of Figure 1, l I
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken along line 5-5 of Figure 4,
Figure 6 is a plan view of a blank forming a part of the present invention,
Figure 7 is a front elevational view of a modified form of the invention, y
Figure 8 is a sectional view taken along line 8--8 of Figure 7,
Figure 9 is a rear elevational View of the device shown in Figure 7,
Figure 10 is a sectional view taken along line I Il-I0 of Figure 8,
Figure 11 is a plan view of a blank forming a part of the invention shown in Figures 7 to 10, inclusive, and
Figure 12 is a side elevational view of the blank shown in Figure 11 after certain operations have been performed thereon.
Generally, there is provided a key container in which one forrn` of the invention consistsof` an elongatedblank adapted` to have. its side edges bent inwardly aftern which the same is folded at approximately its center whereby to provide on either side of` the finished. device a` slot for the reception of identicationcards or the like. One end of the blankhas. integrally formed therewith a tongue which is `adaptedto4 protrude through an opening formed adjacent the e-ther end. A second opening is provided for the reception of the outer end of the tongue. A novel arrangement is provided for the reception of an inner end` of a swiveled member: for the attaching cf a key chain or the like. The folded device has means for pivotally` mounting a` key so that it normallylies withinthe' device but which may be easily rotatedY outwardly for use. In a modification of the invention aremovable eye is utilized for attaching the device to a key chain or the like and only one side ofthe folded container is provided with grooves for the reception of identi# fying cards.
Referring more particularly to the drawing-s,V
there is shown therein, in Figures l to 6,. inclusive, an elongated blank I having at either side an outwardly extending wing I I and having a circular opening I2 adjacent one end adjacent to which upon its inner side is provided a slot I3.
The other end of the blank is provided with an outwardly extending integrally formed tongue I4. A circular opening I5 is provided between the ends of the blank and its center is slightly to the left of a center line I6, as viewed in Figure 6 of the drawing.
In preparing the blank Il) for use, the wings I I are folded inwardly and thereafter the blank is folded along the center line I6. Folding the wings II inwardly provides flanges I'I for the reception of identication cards I8 and IB. Alternatively, mere colored cards may be used, a different color being used for each container so that the user may readily identify his various keys by the colored cards rather than being put to the necessity of reading data which may be placed upon such cards.
A swiveled connector is provided with an eye 20 to which is afxed a shank 2| the inner end of which is provided with a head 22. The opening I5 is of a size to exactly receive the head 22 when the blank I0 isin flattened condition and it is so inserted prior to the folding of the blank after which the opening I5 is contracted about the shank 2I to lock the head 22 therein.
In use, after the head 22 has been inserted into the opening I5 and the anges properly formed the tongue I4. It will be seen that ythe key 23 may now Vrotate a'full 360 degrees and that norf mally the teeth'25 of the key will lie within the A container but that the key may be quickly andV easily rotated aboutthe tongue I4 position. Y 1
to operable In the form of the invention shown in Figures 4 The operation of the device is similar to that above described, with regard to Figures 1 to 6, inclusive, and it will be understood that a piece of clear plastic material may be placed over the identification card 4I also as above described. The openings 36 and 31 may be utilized to attach the device to the conventional key ring.
While only certain forms of the invention have been shown and described herein, it will be readily apparent v,to those skilled in the art rthat many minor modiiications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim.
7 to 12, inclusive, there is provided an elongated body divided by a transversely extendingcenter line 30 into a section 3| and a section 32. The section 3l is provided with outwardly extending elongated integrally formed wings 33 and a pair of slots 34 and 35 adjacent thev outer end thereof.V A pair of openings 36 and 31 are formed on either side of the center line 30 and the outei1 end of the section 32 is provided with an outwardly extending integrally formed Vtongue 38,
In this form of the invention the area of the blank adjacent the center line 30 is folded to form a loop 39 and wings 33 are folded inwardly to form flanges 40 for the reception of an identiiication card 4I.
A spring clip is bent to form an eye 42 for at tachment to a key chain or the like and has its extremities bent inwardly,l as indicated at 43, so that the ends may engage the looped portion 39.y
In the operation of this form of the invention a key 44 may be mounted in the device by in-Y serting the tongue 38 into the conventional opening.45`in the key and thence passing thesame through the slot 34 and thence into the slot 35.,
