GQRUPBRT.
GAS STOVE.
No; '2253;767'." Patented' Feb. 14,1882.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLOTTE RUPERT, OF FORT WAYNE, INDIANA.
GAS-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 253,767, dated February 14, 1882..
` Application filed December 12, issi. (Mader.)
To all 'whom tt may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLOTTE RUPERT, of Fort Wayne, in the county of Allen, and in the State ot' Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas-Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a i'ull, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making'a part of this specification.
This invention relates to cooking-ranges which are portable and especially designed for use on gasoline, gas, or `vapor burning cook.- ing-stoves; and the 4nature of my invention consists in an upwardly-daring base having ahorizontal top plate, through which are a number of holes for receiving and exposing to the heat from below the vessels containing or supporting the articles to be cooked, in combination with acentrally-arranged ame-deectin g plate and a central postconnecting this plate with the top plate of the range, as will be more fully explained hereinafter.
In the annexed drawings, Figure 1 is a top View of my improved cooking-range. Fig. 2 is a bottom view. Fig. 3 is a diametrical section.
The letter A designates the top plate of the new range, which is represented as having four holes through it to receive cooking-vessels, but a greater or a less number ot' holes by its open bottom to be applied to the vari-'4o ous kinds o f stoves mentioned in this specilicalion. l
E designates a circular, 0val,or square plate of much smaller diameter than the opening through the base D, which plate is arranged centrally with respect vto said opening and secured by rigid radial arms F to the base D. Plate E is in the same horizontal plane as the lower edge ot' the base D, and between it and the top plate, A, is a tubular post, G, which is secured rmly in place by means of a throughbolt, a, on the lower end of which is screwed a nut, b. By these means the top plate, A, is centrally supported and prevented from sagging, and the top and bottom plates mutually sustain each other. The plateE is for deflecting the Haine of the burner outwardlyin every direction and diffusing the heat equably lo all ofthe holes through the top plate of the range. By this arrangement `I obtain much more direct heat at thc pot-holes than can he obtained under any lother mode of constructing a range ot' the character or for the purpose described.
I claim as my invention--` The combination of the upwardly -flaring base, the perforated top platethereof, the ceutral Hame-deiiecting plate connected to the said base by rigid arms, the tubular post hetween the deflecting-plate andthe top plate,
and the bolt for tying the same together, substantially as and for the purposes described.
In testimony whereof I aiix my signature,
in presence of two witnesses, this 25th day of November, 1881.
CHARLOTTE RUPERT.
