CRADLE CRIB Filed May 15, 1948 J JNVENTOR. &1
BY 142K222? HAZE 7V MQW Patented Nov. 28 1950 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE CRADLE CRIB Alfred Klazkin, Brooklyn, N. Y.
Application May 15, 1948, Serial No. 27,192
2 Claims.
This invention relates to a cradle crib.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a crib wherein the parts of the crib are so hung that the same can be rocked back and forth to cause the baby to fall asleep and wherein there is provided for the spring which supports the mattress an adjustment so that the spring can be located at different heights depending upon the size of the baby and whereby to render the baby more accessible to the mother from the top of the sides in the case of a small baby.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a cradle or rocking crib which is of simple construction, easy to operate, inexpensive to manufacture, and efiicient in operation.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of the crib looking upon one end of the same.
Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the crib.
Fig. 3 is a sectional View taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Fig. 2.
Referring now to the figures, It) represents one end of the crib and this end comprises posts II and I 2 on the lower end of which are respectively casters l3. To each head there is connected spaced tie rails 14 and I5 having projections l6 and I1 adapted to fit into locking plates 18 especially slotted at I!) and 20 to receive the projection and connected by screws 23' to the ends of the crib. The projections are removably secured to the plates l8.
Suspended from each post II and 12 at each end of the crib is a swing arm 22 which is connected by a screw 23 to the upper end of the post. This arm has on its face a bracket 24 having projections 25 adapted to receive handles 25 on the end of spring frame 21. The spring frame accordingly can be adjusted on the brackets 24 to different elevations.
The swing arm 22 has a rod 29 extending vertically therealong and carries an adjustable slatted side 31. The lower edge of the slide 3| rests upon a spring 32 on the rod 29 which in turn is supported on a bracket 33 though which rod 29 is extended. Each of the swing arms is provided with a conventional rubber bumper 31 so as to eliminate shock or noise when said swing arm 22 strikes against tie rails 14 and IS.
The screw 23 is extended into a fitting 35 in the post and the swing arm 22 is spaced from the post by a spacer sleeve 36.
It will be apparent that in operation the swing arms can pivot about the screws 23 and will give a swinging motion to the spring on which the baby is supported.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it will be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the {present invention as defined by the appended claims.
Having thus set forth and disclosed the nature of my invention, what is claimed is:
1. In a cradle crib, two end boards having posts at their outer ends disposed vertically at a predetermined distance from each other, longitwdinal members tying together the said end boards, a swing arm pivoted at its upper end to the posts of each of said boards, means for supporting a mattress spring on said swing arms, thereby permitting swinging of said spring sidewards in both directions, and said longitudinal members forming abutting means for said swing arms, in order to limit the swing movement of the latter.
2. In a cradle crib, two end boards having posts at their outer ends disposed vertically at a predetermined distance from each other, longitudinal members tying together the said end boards, a swing arm [pivoted at its upper end to the posts of each of said boards, means for adjustably supporting a mattress spring at difierent levels on said swing arms, thereby permitting swinging of said spring sidewards in both directions, and said longitudinal members forming abutting means for said swing arms, in order to limit the swing movement of the latter.
ALFRED KLAZKIN.
