Abstract

A crib for infants in which the mattress-supporting frame is adjustably suspended to the vertical corner posts of the crib by means of a flexible suspension strip fixed at one end to said post and having the free extremity fastened by means of a wingnut to anyone of a plurality of openings provided along its length. The resulting crib allows not only the adjustment of the height of the mattress but also the rocking displacement of the same.

The resulting crib allows not only the adjustment of the height of the mattress but also the rocking displacement of the same.
1 Claim, 4 Drawing Figures CRIB MATTRESS ADJ STING DEVICE FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to infant cribs, in which the mattress-supporting frame is supported and attached to the vertical supports of the crib by means of adjustable suspension means, so as to permit changes in height of the mattress to the desired level as well as oscillating displacements thereof.
THE PRIOR ART Infant cribs with adjustable mattress-supporting frames are well known. However, the means heretofore employed to adjust the height of the mattress were quite complicated and very impracticably coordinated with attachments fixed along the vertical supports of the crib. Furthermore, such conventional devices would not permit the mattress or the supporting frame thereof to be displaced by oscillation or rocking movement.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring now to the accompanying drawings, the crib is provided at each of its four corners with vertical supports 1 having the conventional vertical connecting barriers 2, on the surface of each support 1 which faces toward the interior of the crib, there is attached a suspension means 3 which constitutes the supporting means for the frame 4 of the mattress (not shown).
Each suspension means 3 has an upper extremity 5 to be connected rigidly to the vertical support 1 by means of a screw 6 or equivalent fastening device, a plurality of openings 7 located at predetermined distances from one another along the length of the suspension means 3, a lower extremity 8, opposite the extremity 5 and having an opening 9 thereat for accepting a wing-nut fastener 10 for engagement of the opening 9 with one of the intermediate openings 7, thus resulting in a loop. The assembly of the mattress-supporting frame 4 to the crib itself is accomplished, as it can be readily seen from the drawings, by passing the suspension means 3 around the comers of the frame 4, engaging the extremity 8 of the means 3 with a preselected opening 7 thereof and securing it with the wing-nut fastener 10. It is now self-evident that the ease of assembly and of adjustment of the height of the frame 4 is remarkable, in that it preserve the possibility of vertical and pendular displacements of the lateral barriers of the crib and tioning of the lateral barriers of the crib, as is well known.

What is claimed is:
1. In a crib for infants having vertical supports at each of the four comers thereof, barrier means connecting the supports to one another and defining a rectangular inner region, a mattress-supporting frame posi tioned within the barrier means and perpendicularly thereto, the improvement consisting of a mattress adjusting device which comprises a flexible strip having an upper extremity with anopening thereat and to be connected to the vertical support of said crib, a first plurality of openings at predetermined distances from said upper extremity along said strip, and a lower extremity with a second opening, said lower extremity forming a loop in said strip, which loop is to engage the mattress-supporting frame, and a fastener extending through said second opening and a selected one of said

Claims (1)

1. In a crib for infants having vertical supports at each of the four corners thereof, barrier means connecting the supports to one another and defining a rectangular inner region, a mattresssupporting frame positioned within the barrier means and perpendicularly thereto, the improvement consisting of a mattress adjusting device which comprises a flexible strip having an upper extremity with an opening thereat and to be connected to the vertical support of said crib, a first plurality of openings at predetermined distances from said upper extremity along said strip, and a lower extremity with a second opening, said lower extremity forming a loop in said strip, which loop is to engage the mattress-supporting frame, and a fastener extending through said second opening and a selected one of said first openings.
