Application May 28, 1935, Serial No. 23,938
1 Claim.
The present invention relates to cribs and the like and has for its object to provide means whereby a basket may be'suspended in a rocking position by an apparatus which is capable of being easily and quickly taken apart and set up and which is adjustable to different size baskets.
A further important object of the invention resides in the provision of an apparatus of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, strong and durable, easy to manipulate and adjust,
. thoroughly eflicient and reliable in use and operation, and otherwise Well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of an apparatus embodying the features of my invention.
Figure 2 is an end elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is an enlarged detail view showing the T coupling.
Figure 4 is an enlarged detail elevation of the upper end of one of the standards showing the upper extremities in section.
Figure 5 is a detail view showing one end of one of the horizontal sections with the extremities thereof in section.
Figure 6 is a bottom plan view thereof.
Figure '7 is an enlarged detail section taken substantially on the line 'l'l of Figure 1.
Figures 8 and 9 are elevations of the hook construction.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that there are two end members and since these are of identical construction a detail description of one will suflice for both. Each end member comprises a transverse tubular bar 5 merging into do-wnturned ends or legs 6 havlng casters I mounted therein. An inverted T coupling has its cross member 8 fixed to the center of the bar 5 and its leg 9 rising therefrom to receive the lower end of a tubular standard l which is fixed therein. A connecting bar for the end members is formed in sections II and I2 telescopically associated and capable of being locked in adjusted positions by set screw i4. Arcuate braces are preferably formed integrally with the sections and curve upwardly and outwardly. In the outer ends of the sections and the braces are fixed blocks Hi from which extend T shaped elements I! for engaging in T shaped slots l8 formed in the standards I0. At the top of the standards are additional T shaped slots l8 to receive T shaped elements l9 the shanks of which are elongated and terminate in eyes 20 engaged in eyes 2| of hooks 22. The hooks 22 are adapted to engage in loops 23 on the upper edges of the ends of a basket B. In this way the basket is suspended and is capable of being rocked.
From the above detailed description it will be seen that I have devised an apparatus which may be moved from place to place and which may be assembled and disassembled quickly by even an unskilled person.
It is thought that the construction, and advantages of this invention will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof. The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
A crib construction comprising a pair of upright members, a basket provided with an upstanding eye at each end thereof, said uprights being of hollow construction and provided with T-shaped slots in the opposed side portions thereof, a T-shaped suspension member for each of the uprights, each of the said T-shaped members having its head portion offset laterally and being in engagement with the slot of the corresponding upright, said T-shaped members being provided with eye members at the lower end thereof on a constant vertical plane, a hook member for each of the T-shaped suspension members, each of the said hook members being provided with an eye disposed at right angles to the hook part of the member, the eyes of these said hooks being disposed through the eyes of the said suspension members, the hook ends of the said hook members being disposed through the eyes of the said basket. v
