This invention relates to score card holders and has to do more particularly with such score card holders as are intended to be carried in the pocket "of the user. Cards to be used in tallying the results of various periods of sporting events vare in' quite popular use among many Sportsmen,

'a team or foursome.

It is among the objects of the present invention -to provide a compact, substantial score card holder which will keep the card in smooth, unwrinkled condition for repeated use.

It is a further object of the invention to provide, with a score card holder, an associated pencil holder to keep all of the scoring equipment ready at hand.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a novel score card holder which is readily adaptable to selectively secure score cards of many different sizes Yet another object of the present invention is the provision of a novel article of manufacture amenable to fabrication from sheet metal, aluminum for example, and from wire, by simple stamping and bending operations.

With these and other objects in View attention is directed to the following detailed specication land description, wherein there is disclosed one i1- lustrative embodiment of my invention, and to the accompanying drawing wherein:

Figure 3 is an elevation of the lower end portion of the holder of Figure 1;

Figure 4 is a perspective view of the holder of Figure 1 showing the supported card and the secured pencil in their respective places; and,

Figure 5 is a plan View of the developed blank of a portion of the holder of Figure 1.

Referring now to the drawing more in detail, the reference character l!) indicates in general the main body -of the card holder which is preierably fabricated of sheet aluminum and which may be stamped in the shape illustrated more clearly in Figure 5. A plurality of tabs (reference numerals l l to i9 inclusive) may be Vformed at the time of stamping, which tabs serve the functions presently to be enumerated.

Other tabs I2, I4 andY I6 are bent downwardly in a drection opposite to that described in the case of tabs Il and il and are turned to lie parallel with the under surface of body portion l0 as viewed in Figure 1. Thus a uniform slot i6 is formed between the inner surface of each of the tabs I2, le and I6 and the adjacent rear surface of the body portion l0. Slots i6 and Il may be more readily viewed in Figure 2.

Tabs i3 and i5, which are initially longer than the tabs previously referred to are now curled loosely upon themselves in a direction toward the upper surface of thel body portion l@ to form a pair of pencil-receiving eyes l5. The portion of tabs i3 and l5 which lies closest to the surface of body portion IU is spaced from the latter by a distance equal to the breadth of the slots I6' and l'l." f

In this manner there are formed upon opposite upper and lower faces of body portionl discontinuous'slots which are defined, in the case of the upper side', by the tabs il and'l'l and by the outer surface of the pencil-receiving eyes i5' and in the case of the lower sideby the tabs -|2', I4

A bent wire keeper, referred to generally by reference numeral 25, is placed against the left edge of body portion le and has its upper arm 26 positioned overlying the t-op surface of body portion I0 and its other arm 21 lying against the underside of body portion IG. The ends 26' and 2 of the arms 2t and 2l, respectively, are slightly curved in a direction away from the adjacent surface of body portion lli to facilitate use as will be presently described. The center straight portion 28 is positioned parallel tothe extreme left edge of body portion l@ where it is secured by the tabs I8 and I9 which are rolled to form eyes I8' and I9' respectively. As will be seen in Figure 2 the eye I8 is disposed toward the upper surface of body portion lil while the eye I9' is disposed toward the underside of the body portion IU.

I provide, upon the left edge of body portion I0, a pair of tapered projections 20 and 2| which at the points adjacent eyes I8 and I9 will be seen to project from the edge of body portion l0 a distance equal to the projection of eyes |8 and I9. Thus it will be seen that projections 20 .and 2l constitute fairing which serves to cover eyes I8 and I9', respectively, and to protect the clothing or person of a user from inadvertent danger upon the edges of said eyes.

What I claim is: i

In a card-supporting device of a size'suitable for carrying in a garment pocket, the combination of a flat plate-like base member, integral card-supporting tabsv formed along one edge of said member and disposed to retain a card against both major surfaces of said base member, springretaining eyesformed along another edge of said base member and integral therewith, a U-shaped spring secured in said eyesand having its arms overlying both major surfaces of said base member. and guard, members formed on said another l'edge outwardly of' said eyes.
