Description
Sept. 26, 1950, w. ALBRO CLIP RETAINING POCKET ATTACHMENT Filed Oct. 1.7, 1947 J III Inventor Walter A/bm "All! I ll: IV/IV Patented Sept. 26, 1 950 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention appertains to novel and useful improvements in devices adapted to be placed and attached to a pocket piece for retaining clip bearing articles such as pens, pencils and the like.
An object of this invention is to provide means for efficaciously retaining pens, pencils or the like within a pocket.
Another object of this invention is to provide means for carrying out the above mentioned function as well as the function efficaciously securing said means to the pocket piece of a conven-- tional coat, shirt or the like.
Another object of this invention is to provide an extremely simple device of the character to be described which lends itself Well to commercial manufacture and common shop practices.
Other objects and features of novelty will become apparent to those skilled in the art, and following the description of the preferred form of the present invention, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein;
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the preferred form of the present invention, portions being broken away to illustrate details of construction;
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the invention shown in Figure 1 and taken on the line 22 thereof and in the direction of the arrows;
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view of the invention shown in Figure l and taken substantially on the line 33 thereof and in the direction of the arrows, and;
Figure 4 is a longitudinal sectional view illustrating details of construction and taken on the line 44 of Figure l and in the direction of the arrows.
Referring now in detail to the illustrated preferred form of the invention, reference is made primarily to Figure 1 wherein there is disclosed a plate l having a folded portion [2 at the bottom end thereof.
The upper portion of the said plate It) has a folded portion [4 integral therewith which is subextremity or folded portion l6 of the said sub stantially U-shaped in configuration. Of course,
the free edge of the portion M which is indicated at l 6, may again be folded if so desired.
Countersunk depressions or grooves 18 and I9 in front and back folds respectively may be proappurtenances such as pens, pencils, combs and the like. Conventional clips 26 are normally provided with a protuberance at the terminal thereof as illustrated in Figure 2. Now, this protuberance is adapted to engage the lowermost stantially U-shaped portion Hi. This of course, forms an emcacious locking device.
Due to the extreme simplicity achieved by the present invention a further description thereof is deemed unnecessary. However, it is apparent that efiicient, simple and convenient means is provided for firmly retaining pens, pencils, combs and the like in a persons pocket regardless of the character of labor performed by him. Jars, shakes and shocks cannot free the pencil, pen or the like from the pocket of the individual utilizing the present invention.
Of course, certain variations may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention. Accordingly, limitation is sought only in accordance with the scope of the following claim.
Having described the invention, What is claimed as new is:
A fastener for clip bearing devices for use with a pocket patch comprising a substantially U- shaped member having a longer leg disposed behind the pocket patch and a shorter leg disposed in front of the pocket patch, means for retaining clips on said shorter leg including a plurality of spaced substantially parallel grooves, countersunk fastening means passed through said shorter and WALTER ALBRO.
